"I can’t kill her, I see that now. I can’t kill her just for being herself. Whatever is left of me that’s still human can’t do it."

The imagination just gave me shivers. I love how textured magic is in this book. It is not good. It is not evil. It just is.
Even as a child, I loved this spelling of 'faerie'. It made my hair stand on end, hinting about things that I could not quite understand and could not quite not want. Was that too complicated? That feeling of almost not understanding is what Faerie Heart left me with.

An excellent fairy story - the protagonist seems to be rather careless about food for someone in a survival economy, but this may be part of her character - she is already a little 'away with the fairie' - her actual time in fairyland is wonderfully described and I love the Gift she brings back, with it's nod towards Shakespeare, who also knew Queen Mab. I would recommend this to anyone.

Beautifully and hauntingly written this is one story that will stay with you. Maeve is no happy fairy queen, she is dark, unhuman and that is why finding her is so dangerous. A thoroughly good read.
