A Hitchcock Reader
A Hitchcock Reader grew out of the editors' desire for a comprehensive and critical text in courses devoted to the director's films. This updated edition should also satisfy general readers and scholars by providing a range of thought-provoking essays that reflect the history of film criticism and theory over the past thirty years.

I loved this textbook!! All the essays were engrossing and interesting for me to read, and dealt with topics within Hitchcock's movies that personally intrigued me. I would recommend this book to anyone that wanted to read analyses on some of the best movies ever made, created by one of the best directors to ever live. Gorgeous anthology. I would read this again if I could.

January 16, 2010This has become a useful reference for my subsequent film classes, though it was difficult to get through as assigned for my Hitchcock seminar, reading articles prior to screening the relevant films -- references were completely lost. Now that I've seen so many of the cited films and have a better sense of Hitch and film terminology and theory in general, I do greatly appreciate this resource.

January 27, 2010For class, yes, yet another Hitchcock class...I have only read two of the essays so far. They have been interesting but I don't think I'd recommend this book to just anyone specifically due to the price.
