I haven't read many books by this author, so when I saw this one, I though 'OK, I will give it a try'. Now, I'm glad I did take a chance with this story but there was just something that bothered me. So, to be honest, I'm not really sure what to think of this one. I liked it but for such a short read, there were also moments where I wanted for the story to progress a bit faster. I wished we got double POV and not just Luzs. While reading the story, I always wondered what was going on in
3.5 stars ⭐.
This was a good read. The heroine was the reason I lowered some stars. In most situations she was downright stupid. I was fedup with her behavior sometimes. In the other end hero was amazing. He was very patient with heroine. Although I felt very bad for her past trauma, What I don’t understand is why she went back to those who betrayed her. She had one twisted family members. But I loved her brother. I wanted to read his story. I’m happy that he got his own happy ending. Overall a

The beginning was pretty good. But the ending was so disappointing. It could have been much better.

Never before have I wished so badly for anyone's family to die slowly & painfully. That would have earned this book a fourth star.

Shout out to Evangeline Anderson for setting the story in my hometown! This was a really great story with a dare I say a beta male hero. He was so sweet to the heroine. I will be revisiting this one again.

Nope, nope, nope. I had some higher hopes for this book since Luz seemed be actually thinking in the beginning. Well, that didn't last long. It was pretty soon that she turned into a damsel in distress in constant need of rescuing. For all her talk about werewolf strength i would have liked to see her kick but a time or two. It probably would have been cathartic for her to fight off her childhood attacker, instead of just mouthing off. But no, she just turned out to be a big disappointment. By t ...more

>Book Review – Deal with the Devil

>I am an independent reviewer. This book is a standalone paranormal romance and ends in an HEA. This story features a virgin werewolf who cannot shift, Luz, and a dangerous vampire, Jude. Luz is ostracized from her pack because she can’t shift. She only keeps in touch with her brother, Diego. Luz suffers from panic attacks that cause her to not take the BAR exam successfully or shift. A chance meeting with Jude causes Luz to agree to 3 blood exchanges with

A super sexy Werewolf – Vampire story. Totally engrossing!!

It’s a tough werewolf society in this book –if you can’t shift you are out. There is no warm pack loyalty; but a tooth and claw mentality to put your family/pack at the top.

Our werewolf heroine is Luz – and she cannot shift; so she is struggling to make her way in the human world. A debilitating anxiety adds to her difficulties. Enter Jude, the most feared vampire in town. Normally weres and vampires do not mix, but Jude has an offer for

Wow this book was an excellent read.I love Luz and Jude characters the way they we're introduced was so exciteing. Annoying beyond belief. I absolutely hate stupid protagonists.

Spoilers ahead ***

She acts like a child. Supposedly she’s an attorney which means she should have some intellect, but to go back to someplace that treated her abominably is just stupid. And by telling herself nothing happened, she can never start to heal. That would have been fine if she chose not to deal with it, as long as she never went back to the people and pack who had no conscience. What did she think? Her parents and family n

I loved this book. I was worried there for a bit. To read about what truly happened to Luz was gut wrenching. So much pain had been hidden. And her pack was to wrong. I love that her younger brother, in the beginning didn't understand the chemistry between Luz and Jude. Diego, too, had his own story going on and I was glad for it. Both sibling supported the other. Jude was so misunderstood from the get go. It broke my heart at times when so many mean things were said about him. His kind and lovi ...more

I loved it. I've read most of Ms. Anderson's sci-fi books and I have to say I love her paranormal as well. The topics in this book may be a trigger for some, but it is what also makes the relationship between the two main characters so intense. The story pulls you in and when you see how some of her family treat her you will also feel her pain. Some great twists in the story really help pull it together. Can't wait to read more. Highly suggest for mature readers only.

Leanne ~ Tales From The Heart
A Were and a Vampire, a 'frowned upon' romance by their own kind. Will it stop Luz from getting to know Jude? Can he help her through her anxiety? She has panic attacks over her work, her inability to shift and passing the Bar. Perhaps there is something deeper that brings on this anxiety. Jude is a Vampire...or is he? He is something more, something more powerful.
I always enjoy this author's books and this one didn't disappoint. I enjoyed these characters immensely and hoped they'd work their w
This is the first book I read from E. Anderson. I am pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. I will keep an open eye for any book by this author.

The themes were very serious but were dealt with quite nicely. If you take out the supernatural aspects of the story, you get the very real and troubling experiences some people live/lived through in their lives (view spoiler)
Decent read

This was my first read by this author and it was a decent read. By the description I was expecting more of an alpha mentality, but sadly this was not the case. Jude was actually pretty pu**y whipped (not alpha at all), even though his so called reputation was this fierce Vampire. I did like the surrounding story line, that was pretty interesting and is what kept me reading. It did drag a bit, so I have to admit I skimmed through probably a quarter of the book. But I finished it and al

DNF Because of lack of consent. High trigger warning for rape/non-consent.
When Luz basically tries to force Jude into taking her virginity even though she was obviously too traumatized to have sex with him I was done. Consent is a 2 way street and Jude was definitely not giving consent. Don't know or care if they went through with it, that was enough for me. Kinky sex is fine, non-consensual sex by either partner is not.

I liked it

I really liked this book. It's got some hard context in that it goes into rape and assault on both a minor child and an adult. But I really like how thorough she was on this topic. It isn't down played and a lot of the resulting physical and mental trigger associated with such a violent act were present and treated with respect. As for the story line itself. I liked the characters and the world building.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a very captivating story filled with tough themes including child abuse, rape, homosexuality, and racism. Ms Anderson does a wonderful job handling these tough topics and creating a great romance between Luz, a female non shifter werewolf and Jude, an inncubas vampire. Both are outcasts in their paranormal worlds yet they find true love and happiness together.

A good one

This a really interesting story. It’s filled with excitement and some angst that could be triggers for some. The angst is discussed, skimmed over, but not graphically described (thank you very much) in detail. It’s about finding your love in the least likely of places along with realizing that family does not necessarily have to be by blood when that blood Family is toxic. I so enjoyed this story.
