In a female dominated society, mating with a male, even if it is to save the human race, is a distasteful task and one Healer Jahara Hriznek has successfully avoided--but time and excuses have both run out. Adhering to the outdated procreation law of the twenty-first century, she takes up residence at the government breeding facility known as the Garden of Serenity. Brenim ...more

27% Into it. I love the dystopian premise - in fact, I chose to buy the book after reading the blurb, without even trying the sample chapter. Love the whole "forced mating facility" concept. Love the heroine.

But up to now I don't like the hero at all; he says nothing to me. For a book that starts with a matriarcal dystopia, I expected a victim-hero, a beta, a wounded and shy male. I have no place for cocksure alphas in my book. And I wanted Jahara to choose her own breeding partner, not him to f

Sexy, Intriguing,Dystopian Romance

Jahara a gifted healer finds herself on her way to The Garden where men are used as sex slaves. The all female government makes it a requirement that the women mate with the healthy males after a mysterious illness has wiped out most of the male population.

I really enjoyed the world that the author created , how strange to see the shoe on the other foot. It was interesting to see Jahara dealing with the conflict of being with a male after she had been born into

At first this book was a little hard for me to get into. Girl on girl action is just not what I want to read about. I love me some MEN. I stubbornly kept picking up my kindle and am glad I did. This book is about a near post-apocalyptic society in which a pandemic almost wipes out males (now that would have been a shame). Males are segregated and used mostly for breeding and servitude. Females are raised to have an aversion to males and to believe that they are superior. The women's first intera ...more

This is the second book i had of Mrs. Pierce's. After reading the first book I contacted Mrs. Pierce to let her know how much i enjoyed her book. Being the kind lady that she is asked if I would like to read another one of her books. I agreed. I'm glad I did. Though this book is different than the first one I had read her faultless writing style and imagination carries all the way through the book to the end. Whether she is writing on plant or in another one you can depend on that she is going t ...more

My rating:
1st star - well that one is mandatory;
2st star - the story is catching,it kept me through the end,and I don't like to torture myself (DNF is nothing new for me);
3rd star: women are in charge. Not very common...

And for the rest,I agree with other reviewer...no place for cocksure male here;relationship is practically forced upon Jahari (or what's her name) because of some vision,and when she finaly realises that she loves him,we don't know why,because author is only giving us time spans

The Healer’s Garden gives a glimpse at a world in the future where society is mostly made up of women. The relationships are also primarily women with women. A virus had come along and wiped out most of the male population so the men were kept separated from the women. Each woman is required by the government to produce two children. The remaining men are used as breeders to continue the human race...

This one is a winner! Multi-layered characters, suspense and romance make this an excellent book. Brenimyn is a worthy hero. Strong moral fiber, intelligent, compassionate and determined to follow his heart. Jahara took a little longer to find her strength. I enjoyed seeing the changes she went through as she discovered that the world she knew was filled with ill founded prejudice, callousness and lies. While she struggled with letting go of her old life, she does let her heart lead her to what ...more

What a delightful read. This is a futuristic fantasy set in a world where women are in total control and only sleep with men to have a child. Except in one case...and that's when their world becomes erotic. This was a page turner.
