This was a very interesting book I checked out from the Logan library. It doesn't focus on the war events, though it of course mentions them. It focuses on what life was like for the children of the time, who went to school, what the schools were like, what children wore, and the harsher discipline for those who misbehaved or struggled in school. I definitely recommend it. It's sort of written in a fiction style, telling of fictitious children's adventures, but the kind of events told are true. This is a good book to read to your kids, especially in the context of studying early American history.

I've been reading several books of this nature as reference for a couple projects of mine. I found this one to be a quick easy - but fun - read. Experienced historians might find the content to be 'old news' though I would recommend this book to someone looking for a start in digging a little deeper into American history.
