Personal Reaction: Clean format, nice organization, well put together. It does the job of teaching about sharks to younger readers, beyond that it wasn't too exciting. Pages had a good ratio or images and text, but could have had more fun and involved elements.
Purposes:
Read Aloud- This would be an excellent book to start off a unit on sharks or sea creatures for younger elementary to introduce the key elements, such as how they live underwater, what they do, and their environmental habits
Independent Reading- I would assign this book with a collection of other books to a student who is doing a project over sharks or a particularly interested student who finds sharks to be super awesome.
For nonfiction- A great foundational book for students first learning about sharks in their first underwater unit. It really hits on the basics in a way that sticks for kids.

Fun read for kids, and even has some Shark tidbits to teach a thing or two.

I Can Read ABout Sharks will give you a wealth of knowledge about all varieties of sharks. I love how the book begins with SHARK! and gives the reader a sense of urgency right away because we can all relate to that feeling that sharks bring humans. The book has a lot of illustrations of different varieties of sharks. However, I feel that it lacks captions for the illustrations and there are a limited number of diagrams throughout the book as well. I did like how they included a section about the process that scientist must go through in order to study sharks. I would recommend this book to a shark lover or anyone wanting to learn a little more about sharks.

In this book I learned that sharks do not have swim bladders, so they have to keep swimming so they don't sink.
