This was a pretty good book by one of my favorite authors. It's an oldie that I read a long time ago.
Since I bought it for my kindle at a low price, couldn't pass it up. Lots of hot kisses by a rogue who meets his match. Vivienne Burroughs was an orphan when she went to live with her uncle. He wants to marry her off to noble with a title. But she wants to marry for love like her parents did. She has escaped to the London docks to flee her unhappiness at being forced to marry someone she doesn't love. When she meets a man who will change her life.
When Robert Harding sees a young woman thinking her in danger at the docks, he intercedes. She is not expecting a man to be in her business and tells him so. But Robert is a lawyer who helps the lower classes get justice for them. He only wants to help Vivienne get her due, but he sees a woman who is stubborn to a fault.
Robert falls in love with the woman when he gets to know her and the situation she is in. Vivienne falls for the man who makes her tingle and wants to experience love.
A love story with a happy ever after is one to remember for anyone who likes romance.

not my fav from Margaret Moore

I’ve been really into Margaret Moore lately. But this one just missed the mark. I was bored so I ended up skimming over half the novel. If you are looking for a slow burn this is not for you.

Randomly stumbled upon this at the library when I wasting time browsing for books. Plus I needed a nice mindless romance and this seemed to top the cake. I mean look at them on that cover! Also, it seemed rather interesting...a lady who falls in love with a solicitor. Intriguing.
At first everything seemed to be great and fine. The author kept throwing hitches into this story. Finding their HEA would happen, but they really had to work for it. However, I grew irritated because nothing seemed to be happening. Poor Vivienne made herself look a fool many times and Robert was a big ol' butt. I would have thrown in the rag many times. Robert was a jerk. Yes, he earned his karma later on and once he realized he couldn't live without Vivienne he had to earn it. I honestly believe that Vivienne deserved better then any of the suitors that wanted her; including Robert. That's my opinion though.
But yeah...I grew irritated many times with this and I'll admit...I skimmed here and there. I just...*sighs* this seemed so unreal at times and not realistic. However, I do like the authors writing style. Very flowly and nice. The world seemed to jump to life for me.
In the end, this was an alright read. It was a nice HEA/HR. The couple had to really work for their love, even though Vivenne did 99% of the work while he made a fool of her and degraded her a lot. I don't get why she loved him, but hell...love is confusing. I would recommend this for those who need a decent, mindless HR. Out of five stars I grant this 2 stars.

Favorite Character(s): Vivenne

Like most young women in London in 1663, all orphaned Vivienne Burroughs has to look forward to is an arranged marriage. But unlike most young women, Vivienne is determined to rebel against her fate. Her parents married for love, and that is Vivienne's dearest wish, to find a man she loves, and marry him. Having fled from her home to escape from a loathsome prospective husband, Sir Philip Martlebury, Vivienne is found on the docks by Robert Harding, a solicitor. Rob's heart goes out to this young woman, and when he learns she is trying to escape from what is sure to be a miserable marriage, he advises her to find out anything unfavorable about Sir Philip that she can, in the hopes that her uncle will chose another husband for her. Rob and Vivienne never expect to meet again, but they do when Sir Philip hires Rob - to draw up the marriage contract! Before long, Rob and Vivienne find themselves falling in love, and they will have to overcome obstacles to be together. I read this book because I enjoyed others by the author, and I was not disappointed. I knew this story would end happily ever after, but the author kept me reading to find out how. I was also pleased by the setting of this book, which seemed to be a usual one for a historical romance.

I really liked this book. The love between the characters is excellent, but it was too long for me. I felt like it could have ended 100 pages sooner
