Lena Eltang

Lena Eltang is a Russian poet, writer, translator, and journalist. Lives in Lithuania.

Born in Leningrad, she studied at the Faculty of Philology and Journalism at Irkutsk State University. In 1988 she left the USSR. She owes her surname to her Dane husband, and her name to life in Denmark: Elena is not there at all, but there is a popular name Lena. She also lived in Paris and London, and since 1991 with her husband in Vilnius.

Lena was professionally engaged in journalism and translation. In "big" literature she made her debut in 2003 with a collection of poems. In 2006, her first novel, The Escape of the Cumanist, was published, which was included in the “short list” of the Andrei Bely Prize and the “long list” of the National Literary Award “Big Book” for the 2006-2007 season. In 2008, the second novel, Stone Maples, was published, which was awarded the New Literary Prize-2009.

The third novel by the writer "Other drums" was released in 2011 and in the same year was awarded the "Russian Prize". In 2012, the novel "Other Drums" was included in the "short list" of the National Literary Prize "Big Book".

The fourth novel, Cartagena, was published in 2015 by Ripol Classic. The novel was translated into Arabic in 2017 and is currently being translated into English.

Это вот тот случай излишнего русского языка, когда два раза употребляют слово "обол", только чтоб не дай бог не сказать слишком простое "монета".

Хочу выбросить книгу, но сохранить некоторые ее части в себе. А в целом - проебанная упущенная возможность.

Есть много причин, почему я люблю эту книгу и периодически её читаю: там есть Барселона и испанский язык, персонажи обладают своим голосом и манерой, стиль книги потрясающий, никогда ничего подобного мне не попадалось. Мне кажется, это лучшее, что происходило с русской литературой за последние 20 лет

очень интересный роман который все время держал интригу и оставил в конце тайну. это был необычный опыт прочтения потому что вся история раскрывается из личных писем или дневников.

The book was strange and I had a really hard time reading it. I know I probably missed something, but even the way it was written was really all over the place.
