Love and Respect for a Lifetime is a condensed version of all of the information found in the full Love and Respect book. I love this version because it is beautifully organized, concise, and to the point. It is filled with basic principles for making any marriage better. It doesn't matter if you have a lousy marriage or a wonderful marriage, this information can help you and your spouse love and respect each other more than you already do.

Excellent subject for a book and it is well covered. However, the subject can be covered in a few chapters and the balance of the book is repeatative.

Took me a long time to feel like finishing this book, mostly for how repetitive it is. About halfway through, I just stopped reading all the testimonials from spouses and focused on the key points. I think this could've been edited down at least 100 pages for those two things alone.

Aside from that, I really appreciated the breakdown in the difference in communication styles between men and women and how they can use practical steps in improving how they related to one another in the languages they speak. I got a lot out of that. All the self-promotion for the conference or tapes made it hard to get through to the end, though.

This book really helped me with some personal insight work and helped me to understand my mate a little better. Even though, we are the same age and went to school together, our communication styles are very different. As he continues to share bits of his childhood trauma with me, I understand a little more but ...in the end...we just think differently.

Excellent book! Participated in a small group at church that utilized the dvd sessions from the Love and Respect conferences. Women truly desire love and men desire respect; once you realize this, it is easier to define the problem.
