Erza and Natsu are trying to stop Jellal from reviving the most feared black wizard the world has ever known! To help in the effort, the Magic Council launches its magic of mass destruction, Etherion. But Jellal knows that the Council’s attack could kill both him and the Fairy Tail wizards—and he isn’t running away. What is he plotting?

I read volume 11 of Fairy Tail 7 months ago - at this rate, this series will last me for *years*! (Is this a sign I'm not very interested in it? It might be.)
Volume 12 begins with Erza kicking ass in a battle I didn't remember anything about. She totally defeats someone. I'm sure it was someone strong, because she seemed to be struggling a bit. Oh, well.
Then she ran up a tower to stop an old friend from destroying the world - and I suddenly remembered what the plot was about. The terrible evil of climactic doom was about to be raised through a Thingummy and the Evil Guy had a Completely Obvious Ploy to get it done by tricking the Council Of Elderly Wizards. But Our Heroes had no idea about the Completely Obvious Ploy, so the world was heading straight towards the Climactic Doom.
Rather unsurprisingly, the day is saved through the Power of Friendship, which can pretty much solve any problem in the universe.
Fairy Tail ain't bad, but it creates threats to doom the world and then solves them again at the snap of the fingers, without bothering to give them much substance or weight.
"It is love that makes one strong! But what makes one weak is also love. And I... I loved her as a true member of my family."
Hm, so this was a weird one. And I'm still trying to decide in what way do I mean it.
Let me explain why. In continuing with the events of eleventh volume, Erza is finally ready to fight with Jellal, only that while they are fighting, the Etherion strikes, destroying the tower and leaving behind the only true R-system. The lacrima crystal which holds the R-system needs energy and now, thanks to Seigrein's request and his ability to convince people, that has been provided as well. But then, when the fight ends and Erza's dissolves into the energy, she doesn't die. She dreams of being dead and then Natsu saves her. How did he do that? What exactly can he do that he is so strong to be able to eat Etherion and still live?
I guess the biggest plot twist for me in this book was finding out that Seigrein is actually a thought projection. Throughout the previous one, I was wondering how is Jellal able to know what's happening there. I mean, I get that the two are look-alikes but I figured there was some other explanation than this. I mean, HOW DID NO ONE AT THE COUNCIL FIGURE IT OUT? THEY ARE THE GREATEST WIZARDS, AREN'T THEY?
And the biggest plot point that Ultear leaves behind? Nah, that doesn't make any sense, too. I mean, why convince him to create the system anyway if it would be impossible? What good would that do?
Although, yes, I was fascinated by Igneel's appearance in this one. I just feel like it was wrong-timed because now it gives me hope that Natsu will be able to find him soon. Yet, I know he won't be able to for a long time. (I've watched the anime, remember?)

[4.5 Stars] This is the last volume in this arc of the overall story, and while I thought it could have ended a bit better, the relationship between Erza and Natsu really deepens and shows how much they will go through for their friends. This isn't my favorite arc in the series, but I still really enjoyed myself while reading it!
A solid arc conclusion, it blends the action and humour with more nuanced and mature themes, showing the growth of the series in regards to topics it's willing to cover. Whilst the advances in storytelling are evident, this particular storyline remains one of my least favourite backstory / character arcs and, therefore, I personally can't score it any higher than 3.
Erza defeats Ikaruga and there is 15 minutes till the Etherion cannon is fired Erza and Jallal had a brief battle, when she had him pinned he confessed that ‘Zeref’ possessed his body and wouldn’t allow him to stop building the R-System. Erza believes they will both die so he won’t be killed by HER hand but instead they will both die in the blast. The Etherion blast revealed the the tower was actually a giant Lacroma crystal, able to hold enough magic power to operate the R-system Siegrain (Jallals twin) was actually a projection made by Jallal, to get into the council and make this a reality, once he returned the projection his magic strength was returned. Ultear is still following Seig/Jallal, making the entire council building crumble Jallal and Erza go into battle again Jallal placed a bind spell on Erza when they were hugging before the Etherion blast, making her unable to move “I really did love you.. Erza” As Erza is being sucked into a Lacroma crystal, Natsu gets there in the last second to pull her out of danger. Erza tries to tell Natsu to leave but he doesn’t listen, he punches her in the gut to make her unconscious, before fighting Jallal in her place Jallal has ‘heavenly body magic’ Natsu was beat up pretty bad, but although he in hurt and flat on the floor, he chucks pebbles at Jallal laughing when one hits him. Jallal has monologued that it wouldn’t be good for the tower to take anymore damage as its magic power is leaking out. So that’s exactly what Natsu plans to do Using Jallas attacks to destroy it Jallal decides to use a spell that would kill him, Erza stands up to take its full brunt but it’s Simon who truely saves them both. Killing himself… He confesses: “you were always… so sweet… so kind… I’ve always.. loved you..” as his final words. Jallal becomes insensitive and laughs saying Simon died in vain. Pissing Natsu if entirely. Natsu punches Jallas to stop his speech before eating some of the Etherion crystals Natsu defeats Jallal As the tower crumbles Erza watched Simons lifeless body slide into the crashing rubble Erza decides to fuse with the tower to try and stop the blast instead Poliusica fixed Erzas eye but it cannot produce tears While infused, Erza saw her own funeral, where Natsu couldn’t except her death, and everyone was upset. Natsu managed to get her out. Saving her. SHE CRIES FROM BOTH EYES!!! Bonus: we see ‘Grandeeney’ (ball if sparkles) meet Igneel, wherever he is. She mentioned how remarkable Natsu is and hopes he will meet Wendy. This is the first mentions of her

World: Wow, whole new level for the fight, the art was kinetic and beautiful. The world building was also solid with pieces of the past coming into play. There is a stretch with Jallal and Sieg, it's really a stretch and doesn't really work if you think about it but oh well. Also the pieces added for Erza's past is always nice.
Story: Wow this battle arc was really well done. It was not too long and he turns were well done and enjoyable. It still falls very center to the Shonen battle book norms but it was well done. The emotions were on point and hits hard as the book.
Characters: The emotions that occur here for Erza was well earned and well done. The group as a whole had some nice beats. I will say the villain is kinda a let down and the stretch of who he was on the council was...well a stretch.
As we conclude this arc there is one thing at the end that made me ponder and I think we should all remember in life. That's when Erza decides it would be better for her to die for her friends, and that is the greatest thing one can do for the people we love. However, she learns (while knocked out) that her death would devastate the people in her life, luckily Natsu rescues her in time so she lives. This makes her realize we must live for our friends, not die for them. And that my friends, is the power of Fairy Tail and the magic of friend ship. :) Live for the people you love, don't die for them.
And now... we go onto the next arc, which is not my favorite to be honest and is probably my least favorite out of all the volumes I have read. Oh well. Let's go!
This is a very important volume as it contains the iconic: “A person isn’t supposed to die for one’s friends, one has to live for one’s friends!” You must understand in the context of Fairy Tail that is not only a staple of the series but also a very valuable moment in the Tower of Heaven arc. This volume essentially concludes the arc, though the whole resolution is in the next volume. Oh, we get the most wonderful moments of pure platonic love between Natsu and Erza. Tower of Heaven arc gives a perfect look into Erzas past and I’m living for it .
5/5 The best volume so far. A lot of action here as well as the culmination of a lot of plot points. We finish the Tower of Heaven Arc. We finally figure out what the deal is with Seigrain who has been acting suspicious since the first volume. We have some pretty cool fights between Jallel, Natsu, and Erza. All in all it was a very good volume and an end to a good Arc.
Jallel, Natsu, and Erza on the cover of volume 12.

Guess what, it seems that the two guys that look EXACTLY THE SAME, down to the fucking tatoo over the eye, are in fact ONE GUY ?? What a surprise !! Who could have guessed !! Certainly not me (who had forgotten the episode when Erza meet one of them at the Big Bosses place and thought it was the other one and he was like "oh but we are twins")

This was pretty cool volume. It starts with Erza "death" But then we learn from Natsu that that's not the case and Jella and all the action. This manga is amazing! I can't wait to read the next volume!
Ikaruga is so cool but I have no idea why she can fight with wearing “Geta”. If I do some hard activities with wearing geta, definitely, I sprained my ankle. Especially, Ikaruga’s geta is for Oiran so it is impossible to move so fast. I could enjoy the story but this point was strange for me.

My Thoughts:
I am so behind on this series. I've had this volume for years and only just read it yesterday. Of course, before I could, I had to refresh myself on the first 11 volumes that lead up to this point because it's been so long since I've read the series that I only vaguely remember what was going on. I found it pretty easy to get back into, though.
Natsu in the team are in the Tower of Heaven to rescue Erza from being sacrificed by her childhood friend Jellal. Each of them have had opponents to face and come out on top. The problem is, the Magic Council has decided to fire Etherion and destroy the tower, thus killing everyone in it. Erza doesn't get why Jellal won't run away, but the reason behind that is soon revealed as well as the truth about Siegrain.
It takes some doing and Natsu eating some Etherion, but Jellal is defeated and the Fairy Tail wizards basically save the world again. I love these guys. I was worried about Erza for a while there, but it looks like everything will be okay. I'm excited to start catching up again to start the next arc. It looks interesting.
I have watched most of the anime, that I just have the last two arcs left, a few years ago and don’t know why I never finished it since I love this series (it's my second favourite anime series along with Bleach) and that now I decided to read the manga starting from vol. 10 (I also read vol. 1 as a refresher) so that I can remember everything that happened again, read some of my favourite parts and finally finish it.
To all the people who say that there are no stakes, that no one dies in this series, that it's always happy, have clearly never read or watched this arc because someone does die (I won't say who) and this person never comes back to life (at least that's what I remember from watching the anime) and another character died in the last volume. I ended up crying a little. These series always get do it to a character you started to care about😭 Also, vol. 10 got surprisingly dark. As I mentioned in my mini review of that volume, I forgot that this series could get dark. Using young children as slaves and torturing a little girl to the point that one of her eyes is destroyed and that she's so terrified of them, she could barely move is pretty dark, especially for this series. Erza says that without Fairy Tail she wouldn't have been able to go on😭 I love that Erza realizes that dying for the people you love is not the answer. Here's a quote of what she's thinking at the end, "One isn't supposed to die for one's friends. One has to live for one's friends!!!" In so many series, whether it's anime, western tv shows, movies, etc, characters think that dying for their loved ones is the answer and people say that's selfless but to me that's selfish because then that person wouldn't be the one who's mourning the loss of someone in the future. Yeah dying sucks but being the ones left behind and missing important people in your life is worse. So I'm glad that at last in one series, characters realize that by sacrificing themselves, they are hurting their loved ones.
Thoughts on the volume: • I remembered none of Jellal's evil phase (he was such a sad boy for the majority of the manga the first time around you kind of just forget he was a Satan worshipping freak for a hot minute there). • What is the point of the 10 Wizard Saints, like genuinely what is the point? And who tf is their chairperson that is suddenly and conveniently missing? Doesn't Fiore have a royal family? HELLO? • Forgetting about Jellal being freaky has also reminded me that I know absolutely FUCK ALL About Ultear's motives right now, which is fine because its likely Hiro Mashima didn't know by this chapter either. • 100 chapters in, and I'm kinda getting the urge to read as fast as possible to get to the Gajeel/Juvia/Erndy/Tenrou era days. Give me back sexy and guilt ridden Laxus. • RIP Simon, you came, you fell for a baddie, you got jacked, you got murdered by her possessed future husband during his freak era. That should've been you. • Also the way the fairy tail characters have said to everyone so far, hey you should join fairy tail, and none of these bitches are gonna join fairy tail. • Natsu and Erza in a "no I'LL save us all" battle.
Best chapter title page: Erza with all the flowers was cute, but also Reedus with the drawing of young Macao and Wakaba was hilarious. He truly said these bitches did not age well.

This will be my full review for this entire series. I already read this comic from volume 1-30. Suppose there 50 volume more of this series but I prefer not to finish it as I don't really like the time-skip idea in this series.
To clarify, I love the idea of time-skip. But, in this series, I really hate it. It make Natsu and other main member weaker. Why make them weaker? I want to see MC progress throughout the series. Then, suddenly become weaker. Not to mention when MC want to win each battle, power of friendship keep coming back each battle.
Furthermore, there are a lot of un-explained things happened in this series. The dots are not connected rather than scattered throughout the series. It just there to fill the plot-hole. Rather than explaining, Mr Hiro keep continuing the series and keep adding new characters each volume.
So, after the time-skip, I determine to stop reading this series. I don't want to ruin my memories of this awesome series. For most part, this series actually had huge potential because of interesting and lovable character, but the plot is keep on damaging this series slowly.
