Teresa Hale will show you a new way to breathe. If you suffer from asthma or other severe respiratory diseases, this book could save your life.
An astonishing number of Americans suffer from respiratory diseases and have been told that there is little they can do about them except mask the symptoms with drugs. However, these drugs often cause a very unhealthy dependency in their users and fail to really treat the condition.
Breathing Free reveals a five-day program that has revolutionized the treatment of asthma and respiratory illness internationally. Called the Breath Connection and taught at London's renowned Hale Clinic, it is based on the discovery of Professor Konstantin Buteyko and on more than forty-five years of practical and empirical research. Thus far, the Breath Connection has helped hundreds of thousands of sufferers alleviate the worst symptoms of asthma and other respiratory illnesses. At the heart of this program is the concept that some 200 diseases -- including asthma, emphysema, and bronchitis--are a result of dysfunctional breathing, or overbreathing. With black-and-white descriptive line drawings throughout the text, Breathing Free teaches a simple, natural technique that demonstrates to sufferers how they can retain their breathing patterns so as to prevent and overcome attacks, restore healthy sleep, and reduce medication by up to 60 percent. The cornerstone of the program is The Pause Control, a technique of holding the breath that restores the body's natural levels of carbon dioxide, oxygen, and pH. For those seeking improvement in their overall health, it also offers major benefits regarding stress, weight loss, and the heart.
This genuinely groundbreaking book is set to revolutionize treatment for the millions of people who suffer from asthma and other respiratory illnesses and thought there was little or no hope in sight.
If you think you are breathing correctly, think again! This book is eye opening. It makes sense, and after reading it makes me even more wary of our modern healthcare system. Those who have been saying that we, as a nation, are over-medicated have been basically shut-down and are treated with great disdain. This book explains the cause of many of our ills and provides a simple solution...retrain the way you breathe. By doing so, you can get yourself off the medications that are only treating the symptoms.
Let's be honest guys. This book describes a wonderful technique but the price tag is absolutely crazy. This "book" should be a pamphlet. There is so much that is repeated every chapter, page and even paragraph!
*spoiler* Breath shallow through your nose, don't take deep breaths. That's all. That's the buteyko method and that's seriously all you need to know in order to make your life better. The rest is just explaining the history of how amazing Ms. Hale is and how much she will help you.

I read this book because my fiance suffers with COPD and emphysema, and I suffer with his snoring. Before reading this book, I didn't know there was an easier course of action for asthma sufferers than taking (way too many) medications. I have hope of helping my fiance to tackle and defeat this horrible disease--or to at least get him off most of his meds and to help us both get a better night's sleep.
An interesting book on Breathing for everyone -- not just asthma suffers. But it goes against the grain of teaching you to breath shallow to help you better. Rather then to breath deeply. The book recites story after story. I listened to it on audio and it got boring after a while. You were told what you need to do, and then too many stories showing success in using this program.
