This is a beginner chapter book and for Israel, in 2nd grade, it was at a very good reading level. He enjoyed the story of Martha. It had good guys, bad guys, crime and adventure all told from the perspective of Martha, the shelter pup. Israel felt accomplished reading his first chapter book and realizing that it was not any harder than storybooks.
