From Wine Spectator comes this handy guide filled with information you need to maximize your enjoyment and understanding of wine. This completely revised and updated edition includes a new vintage chart, as well as updated information on buying wine and pairing food and wine, so that you'll get the most from every glass of wine.
In 67 short pages this little pocket book will give you a great overview of wine. There are short descriptions of the various grape types and most popular areas where wine is made. There's also a section that gives various descriptions of the tastes of wine and what they mean. I learned that I don't like heavy tannins in wine. It falls a little short in offering wine/food pairing. This particular version is from 2004. It would be interesting to read a more updated version.
