The relationships between owners and their pets go well beyond basic companionship. Not only do they develop a special bond, but people can gain insights on life, faith, and love from their cats and dogs. These heartwarming collections include 40 meditations each and draw from real-life experiences with the authors' own pets as well as those of their family and friends. From Katrina survivor Bess to the phone-answering dog Jordy, from the kitten-tending grandpa cat to the lifelong camp resident Sylvester, each reading is sure to delight, encourage, and inspire.
This is a collection of short stories about cats that have come into the lives of the author, her friends, and/or other cat lovers. In her introduction, she noted that God's comfort, smile, and creative nature are evident in the cats we all have known. This quote and the title accurately portray the message of this book, in my opinion. This book was a Christmas gift from a dear friend of mine, whom we fondly refer to as my cats' "Aunt Teresa." I really enjoyed this book! Although there was a bit of sadness to some of the stories, most were primarily happy. And, I loved the way Ms. Mitchell tied the stories into God's love for us. I feel as though I could relate to these mini devotionals better than others I’ve read elsewhere because she related them to me via cats. It was such a quick, easy, and inspiring read! I’ll certainly be viewing my cats and our interactions in a different light from here on out. Ms. Mitchell's sincere love for cats and her shining love for God are apparent throughout this book. My favorite story of all was "Grandpa." I cried and cried and cried as I read it because it touched my heart so (in a good way). This book is a must-read for cat lovers. I'll definitely be reading it again!
I thought this was a great book. I am a fellow cat lover, so I could really appreciate and identify with quite a few of the short stories in this book. Best Friends Forever: Me and My Cat was a comfort to me. I read it when my mom's cat died, and it gave me strength and hope to mourn and say goodbye to a cat that was like a member of the family. I think Gold Cat was my favorite cat in this book. I liked his take no prisoners attitude, and how he made sure everyone knew he was the leader of the cats in the neighborhood. This is a fun read full of short stories. I would reccomend this book to any cat lover, or anyone just looking for inspiration.
This is a nice collection of cute, inspiring cat stories. They are just the right length for quick reads and I found the quotes at the beginning of each story appropriately supportive of the material. The kindle iPhone app had trouble with the format in this book, though. The progress and reading speed didn't update properly and in between each story I had to scroll through 8-10 pages with only an orange bar on one side before I got to the next story. Poor formatting but cute book.
Love this daily devotions about cats! Could really relate to these stories since we have 3 sweet kitties ourselves. However as I read the devotions there were blocks of writing in orange that I couldn't read because of the formatting I guess. This was a free Kindle book and I was very happy with the content but would have enjoyed it so much more if I could have read what was in the orange blocks. (I would have given it a 5 star rating if not for the formatting.)
It was certainly better than alot of fiction books Ive read about cats where you wonder if the author even HAS cats. You could tell the author loved her cats and I enjoyed their stories. I didn't realise though that it was also about faith which is not my cup of tea.
