A friend sent me this in a box of books. I'm not sure if she read it or not before passing it on.
I was a little confused as to the timing of Dillon's medical contracts. He mentioned something about a contract being up in June (but I couldn't tell if it was the June before or the June after this is set). Yet somehow, he can take a whole month (September?) to be the resort's fill-in doctor while trying to decide if he wants to A) return to his practice in Texas, B) take the concierge doctor position he's been offered or C) see what opportunities are available to him in Montana.
The romance is a bit fast--yes, Dillon met Erika when he interviewed for the fill-in position but it seems they really didn't start getting to know each other until he arrived to start his resort position. That gives them at most a month to have gotten to know each other and fall so deeply in love that he's proposing to her and they're planning to get married. I'm not sure that works for real life. Would Erika's reservations/trust issues be resolved so quickly in real life? I'm more able to believe Dillon's ready to move on/heal in that time period.
I agree with another reviewer that the plot is pretty predictable. I liked Zane's appearance in the book and do wonder if he'll be the male lead for a different book in the series--though he lives in Utah if I remember correctly, not Montana as the subseries name implies.
I was a bit disappointed that Erika and Dillon make love prior to marriage--one would think Erika learned her lesson about that with Scott--and even prior to them having any kind of agreement on what type of relationship they have. And this is probably the biggest reason this earned a less than average rating from me.

Enjoy reading the Montana Maverick series.

The book is slow going, but don't give up. It'll pick up more halfway through. It's a wonderful story.

This book was truly cringe-worthy. I thought it would be cute, but instead it was 100% predictable. There was absolutely nothing that would leave you guessing with this book. Anytime there was some conflict the outcome was so easy to figure out that it was not even worth turning the page.
Since I was looking for a quick read, I finished this. I don't think I would have otherwise. The characters just didn't do it for me, and because this was a Special Edition and a more family oriented series from Harlequin, the sex was practically non-existent.
The worst of it was the story spent more time dwelling on Erika's bad luck with men and the town gossip then developing the character of her baby daughter, who might have brought some life into this otherwise dull story.
The highlight of this story was when Zane, a country music star, and friend of Dillon's comes to perform at Frontier Days. He seemed to be the only high point in the story, and his character had some spunk, which was lacking everywhere else.
This is a book I'd pass on, if I had the choice to do it all over again.

It was ok. I was glad I read it since in explained a lot of background I missed since I'm reading this series out of order. I am getting it from the library so I get them when I get them. Harlequin's covers are awful. Does the photographer ever talk to the author to see what the characters in the books will look like? 9 x's out of 10 the don't match. This couple as a matter of fact the guy is suppose to be much older then her. The cover they look the same age. The little is suppose to be turning 2 & have hair the color of her mom's on the cover she looks 3 but closer to 4. Her hair is way lighter also. Ok off my soap box now.

From Doctor.... to Daddy is a really great story to curl up on the couch with a blanket on a cold winter day and sit back and read. You will fall head over heels for the Doctor who becomes the Daddy he was once before but this time with a little girl
