Stories included - Footprints in the Jungle - The Taipan - Gullia Lazzari
The aim of this series is to provide learners of English with reading practice which is well-written, interesting and enjoyable. This is achieved within a system of control of content and language with the following main features:
Information Control The density of content is controlled and allusion, metaphor and field of reference are made explicit. Vital information needed in order to follow the story is particularly clearly brought out.
Structure Control Difficult, complex and unusual sentence structures are avoided. Great care is taken with pronoun reference.
Vocabulary Control This is based on a level of approximately 1600 words. Words outside this level which are necessary to the story are included and their meanings made clear.
A collection with three extremely short stories by Somerset Maugham. Consider the Good, avoid the Meh.
The Good : ★★★☆☆ ”The Taipan” [3.5]
The Meh : ★★☆☆☆ “Footprints in the Jungle” [2.5] ★★☆☆☆ ”Giulia Lazzari” [2.5]
I cannot say any of them is memorable, maybe "The Taipan". Still, memorable doesn't necessarily mean great.
----------------------------------------------- PERSONAL NOTE: I'm sure I've read this sometime before during English classes in Primary School. [1995] [64p] [Collection] [Not Recommendable] -----------------------------------------------
Tres cuentos cortas, tres ok.
Igual, memorable no necesariamente significa genial.
----------------------------------------------- NOTA PERSONAL: Estoy seguro que alguna vez leí esto antes durante clases de Inglés en la Primaria. [1995] [64p] [Colección] [No Recomendable] -----------------------------------------------

Lo super recomiendo si estas empezando a leer en inglés! Por alguna razón los policiales o el misterio a mi se me hacen mucho más fáciles de entender. Me gustó mucho ✨️
