I am gobsmacked! A tipping point has been reached sooner than expected. (I could have said "surprised," but I do not feel surprised. I feel gobsmacked!)
Jan and I chose Walla Walla as our retirement paradise. I have been very happy and (I thought) anchored here. We said all along that with one child in Istanbul and one child in College Station, we were free to locate wherever we wished to.
That began to change when our daughter was recruited by Duke to join their mathematics faculty. We find Durham significantly more congenial than either Istanbul or College Station. Colleen would like us closer, and given Durham we would like to be closer.
Jan and I close on our new home in Durham August 22nd. Our home in Walla Walla is "listed."
This is hardly literature, let alone great literature, but it is about as good as a "guide book" could be so four stars. The thirty-fifth book I have finished this year.
