"Keep up your courage," her mother had said, fastening the cloak under Sarah's chin. It's 1707 and Sarah's father bought a plot of land in Connecticut for their family to move to...only one problem, the plot is not ready to house a family of eight children - especially with the little baby.
She offers to come with him to help prepare meals and keep him company, and so he agrees. But there are many things in the dark, deep forests and soon Sarah Noble will need to learn to be far more courageous than she ever thought possible.
“To be afraid and to be brave is the best courage of all.”
This was a simplistic story in terms of word choice and sentence structure but had a very strong punch.
Sarah closed her eyes and tried to sleep. Then came a sound that made her open her eyes and sit right up.
"FATHER!"
