From a prolific Irish author with insight into modern male behavior, a story of childhood that is both funny and sad. It is 1975 in a small town near Dublin. Starsky and Hutch rule the television screen, and, in Northern Ireland, bombs are going off. It is a heady time for a boy whose life is about to change. His father is by day a delivery man for a bakery. Das dream, how ...more

Abbastanza deludente.

Adesso ci vado raramente. Per certi versi è un bene. Nella vita bisogna andare avanti.

Sad but sweet.

A heart-rending short story about a very special father and son relationship. I personally found it both well-written and well-constructed, though I got the impression it tried too much to sound "pathetic" at times. Anyway, it hit me on some sort of personal level as it reminded me of my Erasmus year in Ireland, making me re-discover some old friends like Dun Laoghaire, which I'll always keep in my heart.

A beautiful little story which is witty and sad and depicts an almost typical Irish childhood. Given this is a little book, it can be enjoyed immensely in one sitting. Recommended.

Delicato e essenziale.
