Really enjoyed this book when it stuck to career and motivation, the author slips into a Christian themed sermon towards the end, but still, this is one of the better books I've found concerning this subject and I agree with his basic assertion that we're all hard wired from early on to follow and respond to a motivational pattern and to follow is to bliss and to go against it is hell. This book is worth reading and holding onto!

Background for System for Identifying Motivated Abilities (SIMA), the tool used by Antioch for a survey to identify the motivational structure of an individual's personality. Assumes each person has a unique set of motivations at birth. Understanding motivations useful for job and ministry choices. I found it useful to answer the question, “Why do you want this job?” Chap eight maps out for different dimensions of motivation: central motivation, motivated abilities, recurring subject matter, motivational circumstances, and operating relationships. Each dimension has a cloud of qualitative descriptors that turn up in interviews. Claims this pattern is better than personality analysis like Myers-Briggs. The theological assumptions behind it suggest a better fit for creational theology. Myers-Briggs comes from Jungian psychology.

I think I would have liked this more if I hadn't read a newer and more informative version of the same book only about six months ago.
