Make Your Dreams Bigger Than Your Memories: Don't Let Your Past Keep You from Your Future

Rate this book
We all have a past. We have all made mistakes and done things we wish we had not done. We all wish we could just push a delete button on some of the choices we made yesterday and some of the things we have experienced years ago. What is more, our past has a way of shaping who we are today. It is amazing how one single dramatic experience of rejection in childhood can last through adulthood and forever alter our self image or how one bad decision in college can overshadow the dreams of the future, even God given dreams. The author knows that past hurts (whether brought on by someone else or our choice to sin) can undermine us. Raised a church kid, she knew all about sin, but made the mistakes anyway. She learned firsthand that it is not until we truly get a revelation of who we are in Christ and apply it to our lives, that our past can be erased and our dreams become real again. Terri Savelle Foy shows how we can let go of our past, change our self image and confidently move into a future with hope.

For years, Terri Savelle Foy’s life was average. She had no dreams to pursue. Each passing day was just a repeat of the day before. Finally, with a marriage in trouble and her life falling apart, Terri made a change. She began to pursue God like never before, develop a new routine and discovered the power of having a dream and purpose.

As Terri started to recognize her own dreams and goals, she simply wrote them down and reviewed them consistently. This written vision became a road map to drive her life. As a result, those dreams are now a reality.

Terri has become the CEO of an international Christian ministry. She is an author, a conference speaker, and a success coach to hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. Her best-selling books Make Your Dreams Bigger than Your Memories, and Imagine Big have helped people discover how to overcome the hurts of the past and see the possibilities of a limitless future. I picked up this book because I realize that I spend way too much time thinking about the yucky things that have happened to me in the past. I have to put these things in God's hands and start focusing more on my present and my future. Unfortunately, that's a lot easier said than done. Terri gives some great strategies on how to switch your thinking and start working toward the dreams and plans for your future.

Considering that I loved Terri's other book (Imagine Big), I was looking forward to reading this one. It's about letting go of your past, moving forward, and creating a vision for your life. I think if I had read this at another point in my life (several years ago), I would have liked it better. Right now, it just didn't fit me and half of the content was repeated in Imagine Big, so I felt almost like I was re-reading this. I realize this was written before Imagine Big, so I think I would have liked it better if I read it first. Good book for people who are struggling with letting go of something. I'll probably give my copy away to someone that needs it.

This is a must-have book for anyone who is struggling with their past. She gives detailed God driven steps to be freed from your past and to finally look forward to all that God has for you. God is able to fulfill even your biggest dreams! But if you keep looking back you will never see what is ahead!

Very inspirational read! It read like sitting in one of her ladie's meetings. That being said, I would have loved to have heard more of her personal stories and less "self help" type things, but I still got a lot out of it.

One of the best books on Christian goal-setting and establishing routines that I have ever read. Teri lives out what she preaches & has such practical suggestions. I enjoy listing to her on YouTube.

I really enjoyed this book! Terri is so encouraging and inspiring. This book is all about looking forward to the future and not being stuck in the past. It also recommends that you find your vision in life and to focus on God's plan for your life.
