This book helped me make the leap from knowing some Japanese words to being able to have simple conversations in Japanese. After finishing Genk 1 and 2, the workbooks, and some courses on Memrise, I am around level N4. Good luck in your studies, this is a must-have!

December 16, 2020This was a helpful supplement to the Genki textbook. This workbook gives the reader questions using new vocabulary and grammar lessons from each chapter. If you decide to use the Genki textbook, I also recommend the workbook!

It was a great complement to the Genki I Textbook.

Paired with the textbook, this workbook really reinforces the learning. It prepares you for N5 level knowledge and has a straightforward lesson plan that's easy to understand. Personally, I think this is the best textbook for self learners of Japanese.

Some good additional practice to go with each chapter of the main book. An answer key to check yourself against would have been great though.

This is a good starting point.
Sit with a notebook and practice what you learn immediately.
Use it with Anki or some flashcard app (or make your own flashcards).

Very cute and fine for a textbook but it definitely isn’t enough to get most of us there on its own.

The Genki 1 workbook is a great companion to the Genki 1 textbook. It mirrors the textbook exactly, so there is never any confusion on how to do certain exercises. I also appreciated the differing kinds of exercises: written, oral, and listening, which are necessary in order to learn a language as completely as possible through a textbook/workbook combination.

Covered 6 six chapters, but I didn't do all of the exercise. I'm certain by doing this book you will get some good training in grammar but I didn't had the time since I wrote my thesis parallel with the Japanese course.
But I have this workbook at home so I can do them when I have some free time, or if I just wanted to "repetera".
