I felt for the most of this book that the author was approaching with few preconceptions, few unexamined opinions or preconceptions projected into the work. This seemed to fade to a more run of the mill handling towards the last quarter or so. Overall, the picture painted of Paracelsus renders the inadequacies of the writers treatement irrelevant.
Brings out great ideas of medicine and science, great history, great stories!

I have the 1953 edition of this book, and it is not an easy read. Further reflections on the topic can be found under The Alchymist's Journal, a novel
