I'm the author, Mia Pratt. I live in the 16th-century village of Ajijic in Central Mexico, where I am living an exciting and fulfilling new life that is very different from the life I lived before writing this book.

In the year 2000 my older brother committed suicide. It was a shocking blow that knocked the very foundation of my being out from under me and left me emotionally devastated.

Not long after that I lost my father to terminal illness, and then my mother succumbed to lung cancer. And, my artist's guild in Scottsdale, Arizona, deteriorated in a declining economy with no spare change for the arts.

As a lifelong dancer, artist and writer who lived my dreams and followed my passion all my life, I had never experienced the depth of anxiety and sadness that followed these traumatic events. I simply lost myself.

It took me four years to find my way back to happiness and to document my journey as, one at a time, I unlocked the secrets of the 100 Golden Keys that ultimately saved my life.

In the two years since the first 1,000 copies of my book were published, my life has been transformed in ways I could never have imagined.

Within weeks of finishing the manuscript I began selling my possessions and business, and shortly thereafter I left my Scottsdale home behind to begin a brand new life. I left with only 3 suitcases to my name and never moved back.

At the risk of sounding trite, it seems as if the completion this book somehow represented my passage from a kind of chrysalis into a butterfly. The four years I spent writing it were indeed a time of cocooning, self-discovery and healing from a period of tremendous loss in my life. But when I had completed my work on the book, I had also incorporated each of the 100 Golden Keys into my own life, and through that process I was liberated from the bondage of my past.

In looking back at my departure from my 18-year home in Arizona, I had not a clue what I was doing or why. After my book was published I simply opened my wings and flew out the first window that opened, which happened to be an invitation to travel to a Nahua Indian fishing village on the coast of Michoacan in central Mexico.

A year later, it was no accident of fate that compelled me to travel north to find the quaint 16th-century village of Ajijic where I now live, or that led me to find new love after decades of living alone. What has transpired could only be described as magic - and that magic lives within the covers of this book.

If you truly believe in yourself and want to create a life of liberation and happiness, these 100 Keys can unlock a happy, fulfilling and passionate new life for you - but only you can decide which doors you are ready to open, and when.

Some people skip around, opening some doors while allowing others to remain closed until another day. It’s up to you how fast you go, and how far.

This is a book that reveals itself in layers, over time. The same key that reveals one secret to you today will reveal another tomorrow. As you change, what you discover amongst the keys changes with you. I still open it up every single day and learn something new.

I wish you Godspeed and blessings on your journey, wherever it may take you.

The 100 Golden Keys – Mia Pratt
Unlock the Power of Your Creativity and Set Your Life on Fire
(Brooks Goldmann, $24.95)
www.100goldenkeys.com

This exciting new book contains the distilled wisdom acquired during Mia's unorthodox life as a professional dancer, artist, writer and adventurer, and reveals the secrets of the powerful relationship between creativity and happiness. The “100 Golden Keys” represent Mia’s answers to the burning questions she pondered throughout her life as she lived in passion and pursued her dreams. Collectively, they also reveal how we may all learn to unlock the power of our creativity and use it to for authentic, happy new lives that are free of the limitations from our past.
Until recently, Mia lived in her private studio in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she enjoyed a successful career as an artist, author, columnist and “Creative Change” consultant. Her current adventures now take her to Maruata, a remote village on the coast of Central Mexico where she will spend six months painting, writing and immersing herself in the local culture. She will continue serving as a “Creative Change” consultant via the internet, helping individuals discover and implement creative changes in their lives.
Mia believes each of us possesses an unlimited and self-replenishing reserve of creative energy that is available to fuel our dreams, heighten our awareness and transform our lives from ordinary to extraordinary. Once we embrace this knowledge and access our creativity, we may use it to re-create ourselves by shedding the limiting beliefs of our past and re-creating ourselves. By embracing the truth of who we are in the present, our lives are then elevated to dazing heights we may have only dreamed of in the past.

I open this book every single day and read a Golden Key with my coffee. This is one of the few self-help books that made a profound difference in how I look at my world. The part where the author tells you to give a name to your "inner voice" so you can recognize it and listen to what it is saying literally changed how I think and what I think about. I've changed many of my outdated, false and negative beliefs now through using the workshops in the book. This book changed everything in ways I can't really define.

The Secrets of the 100 Golden Keys is a great read. It helps the reader to answer questions that will empower them and move them forward.

It also has a second story line of the author, which is very interesting. I wish there was more of the author's life.
