A solid 6 part series but doesn't feel nearly as "epic" as the title.

Basically someone keeps sending robots after Peter to take him down. So each issue is him fighting one, but also beating them with pretty much ease. then he fights a old foe, and that's pretty much it. The stuff with Felicia and MJ married life is good, and art is always good, but the "epic" slayer story is just decent at best.

I liked the book because there were invasion of the spider slayer.
I wonder if the spider slayer if he is going to be alive.
I noticed that the spider slayer was making robots to learn how to control spider mans weapons to use it against spider man.

It was alright, but I only read it for the Black Cat material. She got some nice development but wasn't in it enough for my tastes.

This summer event when Marvel books went bi-weekly wasn't even that good back in the 90's. The Spider-Slayer is a weak villain. The subplot with Pete's parents ultimately gets pretty goofy later on and they already couldn't figure out what to go with MJ back then. Her subplot is she's so stressed out that Peter is going to die that she starts smoking. I'm one of the few people that doesn't like Pete and MJ together. (Mainly because of how weakly she was portrayed in the 90's, always at home worried about Peter. MJ should be stronger than that.) Oh, and the Black Cat gets a new costume that belongs more in porn than a comic book. I've always liked Mark Bagley's Spider-Man art though.

David Michelinie played a big part in my adolescent comic book experience. I re-read his stuff as an adult and "eh". He brags in his introduction about how this story started a videogame, which is not all that bragworthy.

Bad guy sends killing device to kill Spiderman. Spiderman wins.
Add large-breasted woman in skimpy costume to Spiderman's team, increase power of killing machine, and repeat.
And repeat.
And repeat.
And repeat.
Are we bored yet?

Spider Slayers are after Spiderman. Meanwhile, Peter has to deal with his parents coming back into his life after he thought they were dead. Also Black Cat is back on the scene. The fights are slightly predictable, but the Peter storyline is decent. A good read.

Nice clean and crisp art by Bagley, but time has done only bad things to stories by Michelinie.

Good 6 part story of Peter trying to balance the re-appearance of his parents while battling a series of robot attackers.
