About the author

Kay Lee Arthur was an American Christian author, Bible teacher, and co-founder of Precept Ministries International. Renowned for her accessible and inductive approach to Bible study, she helped millions engage deeply with Scripture. Arthur began her ministry informally, teaching teenagers in her living room alongside her second husband, Jack Arthur. Their work soon grew into a global outreach, headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, under the name Precept Ministries International. She hosted the daily Bible teaching program Precepts for Life and became a respected voice in evangelical circles. Arthur authored numerous books and was a four-time winner of the ECPA Christian Book Award for titles such as A Marriage Without Regrets and The New Inductive Study Bible. Her ministry was rooted in a personal reawakening to faith in the early 1960s, following a divorce and a return to religious life. She and Jack also served briefly as missionaries in Mexico before founding their ministry. Arthur remained active in public faith-based initiatives into her later years and was known for her firm stances on social issues. She passed away on 2025 leaving behind a lasting legacy in Christian education and publishing.

I participated in an eight-week study on this book. The Precepts inductive method of Bible study requires a good deal of work--there was five days of homework (or heartwork as people in our church call it) for each week of the study. But when you read the same Scripture repeatedly marking different words, you see how frequently some words (such as covenant) are used in the Bible and recognize how important those words/concepts are. You understand who the people are: who is speaking, who is spoken to, who is involved in the action. I find I gain more from inductively studying a few verses than just reading a whole chapter or more. Although I knew that covenant was an important concept in the Bible, I realized anew that the entire Bible is about covenant, beginning with the first covenant God made with Abraham in Genesis and continuing through the covenant sealed with the Body and Blood of Christ and all the way through the covenant promises of God in Revelation. I highly recommend this study. I think anyone will gain more from participating in a group study because the interaction of the group lets you hear and consider ideas from other participants and helps solidify your own understanding. However, if you do not have access to a study, you will benefit from reading and doing the exercises independently.

I and my co-bible study facilitator taught from the pages of this book the unfailing love of God to a class of 30 women! We have all been blessed by the intimacy of God's promises from old testament unto now! In addition there are lots of resources by Kay to support the teaching plan, which made it not easy but applicable. This is a great book to read to learn the Inductive Study Method: Observation, Interpretation & Application of Scripture!

This is a fabulous Bible Study! It helped me see the bigger picture of who God is, and how He has been working all throughout the Old and New Testaments. This is a condensed version of a much longer study, so at times feels a little choppy. This is a good study for anyone curious about studying inductively. Excellent content!!!!!!!!

I really enjoyed seeing the covenant from this perspective. However I'm not a fan of the Precept inductive study method the author uses in all her studies. I find that it doesn't add anything to my study or help me in anyway to discover more from the pages.

Not bad, not bad at all! I appreciated how Kay Arthur asked open-ended questions and asked us to look into Scripture ourselves and come up with our own answers and our own conclusions. The only shortcoming, and this wouldn't be classified as a shortcoming if I were a different person, is that it's a study on the basics of Christianity. She calls it Christianity 101, and I'd say that's a good description. I came into the study as a mature Christian expecting to discover deeper truths I hadn't known before, and discovered that it was directed at finding things that I have known for a long time. But I still liked Kay's inductive method of Bible study a lot, and I won't balk if we do another study of hers.

I participated in this study at a large church. They had this for their women's study. It was great. Love seeing covenant throughout scripture! The word still stands out as I study God's Word.
