Marion Erskine was born in Randfontein and completed his schooling in Westonaria. He is a former PUK student and worked as a teacher in South Africa and later in Taiwan, where he taught English for six years. During his time abroad, he wrote his debut novel Oos, which was named a finalist in the "Ek is ’n skrywer!" competition. He then lived for 15 years in the United Arab Emirates, where he worked for Emirates Airline and at Barakah, the first Arab nuclear power station.
He is the award-winning author of several works, including popular publications such as Vlerke vir Almal and Donatello en Volksie. In 2024, he won the RSG Radio Drama competition with his play Konneksie. He is also the proud recipient of two ATKV Veertjie awards.
Marion is the creative force behind the popular Facebook community "Lekkerleesboekrak", where thousands of Afrikaans readers and writers come together to share stories, recommend books, and celebrate their love of reading. This dynamic group was also honoured with the 2025 Smaakmakers Award for Books and Literature.
He currently lives in France, where he works as a freelancer and seizes every possible opportunity to explore the world, always with a notebook in his backpack and a story on the tip of his pen.
Ek het nou regtig hierdie boek baie geniet. Dit was "sincere" geskryf en ek het lekker met die karakters vereenselwig. Ek lees nie so baie Afrikaans nie, so dit was verfrissend om weer bietjie Afrikaans te lees. Dit was 'n maklike lees en presies wat ek nodig gehad het.
