TERMINATED by Simon Wood is one of the best Suspense Novels I've read this year. Let's face it, we've all met that oddball person that gives you the creeps either at school or at our work place, but what do you do when there's no way of avoiding them? This is what happens to Gwen when she had to give a poor preformance evaluation to her coworker, Stephen Tarbell. This book is so intense that you'll find yourself biting your nails done to the knuckles! I just couldn't put this book down until I f ...more

Ok this is one of those books that you could see happening at your job. I always wonder when its going to happen at mine. Its about a woman doing her job for the company she had to give an employee (who thought he should've gotten the job instead of her) a bad review. He attacks her in the parking lot with a knife and all hell breaks loose after that. See what happens when you think you are just doing your job for the company and you suddenly realize they don't give a damn about you! HA!!! Defen ...more

Simon certainly crafts one killer plot, full of characters who become so real you feel every emotion right along with them. Occasionally this makes it a little hard to read his work (but only briefly), because his bad guys are just so creepy and as a reader you identify so much with the helplessness (to a point) of his protagonists. But then the downtrodden or intimidated good guys start kicking butt, and all is right with the world again. He takes you on quite a ride.

We have all worked with an annoying person. That being said I should never hope to encounter the sort of person that Simon Wood so aptly describes in this story. Tarbell takes harassment of his boss to an unheard of level. Poor Gwen finds herself with a slew of doubters that don't quite believe her assertions regarding Tarbell. Tarbell just about completely ruins her life. Take a chance and read this thriller to learn how it ends. It will be worth your while

Terminated is a fast-paced psychological action thriller written by Simon Wood. This author has created a fascinating story. I received this book from my Kindle Unlimited membership.

Excellent read. Total page turner but actually a little too scary in places, especially the dark office scene. Highly recommend.

This was definitely an emotional roller coaster ride. At times I would have to stop reading/listening due to how much anger and frustration the situation caused. This is not a bad thing. This tells me the author did his job because he caused a genuine response to the reader. It definitely isn't boring. Poor Gwen was attacked from every angle. Not only from her assailant, but her employer, coworkers and the people that were supposed to protect her. If you are a victim of an assault or stalker, th ...more

Gwen Farris has a good life and appreciates it. She and her husband have a young daughter, who they consider a miracle baby after Gwen's severe injuries inflicted years earlier. She has a new supervising position in a pharmecuticals company and loves her job. Too bad she gave an honest employee evaluation to the office misfit.

Stephen Tarbell is more than irritated. This young Farris woman came to the company, took the job he deserved and gave him a less than steller job performance review. He's

Gwen Farris had only been head of the Quality Assurance department at Pace Pharmaceuticals for six months when it came time to do the employee performance evaluations. All was going smoothly until she reached Stephen Tarbell. His performance did not meet Pace's minimum level, and when she explained this to him, he was livid. He had been at Pace longer than anyone in the department and was up for the head position, only to have Gwen snatch it away from him. A clear case of an equal opportunity hi ...more

"An Awesome Thriller, When The Victim Is Believed to Be The Perpetrator

Again, Author Simon Wood's novel here amazes me. He is so very creative, writes extremely well, and I get so absorbed in his stories which are so easy to read. In this story, Gwen Farris is a supervisor of Quality Assurance for Pace Pharmaceuticals. On this day, she is meeting with staff members rendering performance reports. Stephen Tarbell is very upset about his report. He's never had respect for her because he's extremely

What a page-turner this was! I thoroughly enjoyed this story, in which Gwen Farris, Stephen Tarbell's boss at a pharmaceutical corporation, gives him a poor performance evaluation, little realizing how violently and obsessively he would react. As they're both leaving work late that day, he threatens her with a knife in the parking lot, and that's only the beginning. Tarbell is truly fiendish in his plotting to destroy Gwen's life through violence and psychological torment. He even uses his devil ...more

One innocent meaning of the term 'terminated' has to do with losing one's job; as we all know, there is another more ominous one. Those two very different definitions become intertwined as a workplace decision becomes life-threatening in this fast-paced tale of suspense by Simon Wood, who has already shown that he is a master of the genre.

Gwen Farris could have had no idea that her critical performance evaluation of Stephen Tarbell would have the effect it did. Not that poor evaluations are ever

Summary: This book is a little hard for me to summarize. Gwen gives Tarbell a poor review at work. He basically goes insane after that. He threatens her, manipulates her and those around her, and basically makes her life hell. On top of that, a man that tried to kill her before is out of jail. Another layer is Tarbell's twisted father who is dying. The layers within this book are piled on thick and twisted together.

My thoughts: I never stopped reading this book. It was a book that I literally co

TERMINATED is one of those books that feels just a little too real for comfort. Anyone who knows anything about stalkers knows that they can be obsessive to the point of being dangerous. Stephen Tarbell is such a person. When his recently-promoted boss, Gwen Farris, has the temerity to give him a less-than-stellar employee evaluation, Tarbell (who feels he was robbed of the promotion) strikes out at her. His first step is a physical attack, but as matters escalate and Gwen seeks protection, Tarb ...more

I have to admit that I had never heard of Simon Wood before, nor read any of his works. I got this on Kindle for £1 during a special offer.

I was pleasantly surprised. The psychological insight into the sociopathic mind of Stephen Tarbell was fascinating. I am not one easily emotionally moved by books or movies, but the way this story is told was enough to make anyone edgy.

Tarbell is one of those characters you can't help but dislike. That dislike gradually turns to hate as he becomes more and mo

The poor chick in this book's life goes from bad to worse, when she gives a certifiable lunatic a less than favorable performance evaluation. He sets out to make her life hell, and almost succeeds! This is an awesome book, and grabbed me from start to finish. All the way through; seeing the various levels of how twisted this guy really is, and how out to destroy this poor woman's life and her family he is, all I could think of was how jacked up it was, and how surely, it couldn't get any worse.. ...more

Gwen is a strong willed, sometimes bull-headed woman determined to keep her family safe and secure. She's never been one to run from her problems, not years ago when faced with a frightening and violent situation, and certainly not now when faced with a disgruntled co-worker. But she soon learns that playing by the rules isn't going to work, and it won't keep her alive.

Simon Wood has surely created another reader favorite with his book, Terminated. I admit I was excited and eager to read this st

I did enjoy very much reading this ebook on my kindle and if you are the type of reader who enjoys the style of Linwood Barclay or Harlan Coban then this tour de force is for you. The story revolves around Gwen Farris and a fellow employee Stephen Tarbell who are both seeking promotion, Farris is successful and Mr Tarbell turns somewhat nasty seeking revenge in what he sees as a cruel world...and that essentially sets the tone of the story! It's a fast and very enjoyable read with a story line, ...more

Simon Wood takes the reader on an exciting, tense and page turning journey. From terrorisation to murder, a psychopath with a deadly grudge becomes more and more out of control.

Gwen Farris is promoted to a managerial position in the pharmaceutical company she works for and this unwittingly unleashes the monster inside one of her now employees, Stephen Tarbell. Tarbell believes the job should have been his and as his actions spiral out of control Gwen finds her life going from bad to worse.

Murder! Madness! Mayhem! Psychological torture!
Terminated delivers all of the above and throws in some morals! His short stories and novels all have one thing in common…They are UnPutDownAble!!!

Ken Bruen, author of PRIEST made the comment about Simon …“He writes like a dark demented angel.” When you finish Terminated, you will agree.

Gwen Farris got a promotion and a Psychopath as a bonus. Stephen Tarbell thought Gwen stole the promotion and he is going to do everything he can to make her suffer.

Terminated tells the story of an office manager, Gwen, who gives one of her workers, Tarbell, a less than glowing appraisal without realising how personally he will take it. It's an interesting plot and Simon Wood writes well in a straightforward style. Tarbell's past is revealed and goes some way to explaining how he has turned into the twisted character he is. However, Terminated suffers from the same weakness as many other thrillers in that the protagonist's actions are at times ridiculous be ...more

I really enjoyed "Terminated" And it's a great title by the way. I am not sure, but I think this is the very first time I have read this genre - a thriller - and it was lots of fun. I can see why people get hooked - and this is a very good example - well-executed and compelling. Simon Wood is an excellent writer and as I was reading it, I was picturing it as a first-class violence in the workplace thriller. The tension escalates gradually as the story unfolds. The reader thinks, "Oh no, not agai ...more

Be careful

Be careful who you give a bad review or you mY end up fighting for your life! That's the premise Simon Wood sets up in this hair-raising novel. Gwen was just doing her job when she gave Steve Tarbell a rating of not acceptable on his job performance review. To say he did not take it well would be an understatement. In fact, he comes after in her in terrifying ways. But Gwen is not about to be done in by this overgrown bully. A very satisfying thriller and what I've come to expect from

Most of Simon Wood's books are stand alone but all are gripping thrillers that are very hard to put down with twists and turns leading to an action packed ending that is usually unexpected. What makes Simon's books different is that you are not guaranteed a happy ending which adds to the suspense. This book sees a man who had a violent childhood blaming an innocent person for his failure to gain promotion. The situation sees both people change in their struggle to survive. Another must read for ...more

I don't usually read thrillers, but after meeting Simon Wood - a most amusing man - I plunged in. It was good ride and definitely thrilling, right up to the end. The violence is not too graphic and it's offset by a righteous heroine and her loving family. Gwen Farris is a woman to be admired. She has plenty of guts and determination as she matches wits with her menacing nemesis, the creepy villain, Stephen Tarbell.

Wow what a book I just loved it.I bought the audio to this book it was well read. This book will make you furious at some of the characters. You'll think how stupid can they be.The main character was so brilliantly smart but as crazy as they come, you will hate him.His poor victim was so desperate and alone I couldn't help but put myself in in her shoes.I don't know if any of you do this but I caught myself talking to the book or rather yelling at it.
