New Doctor at Chestnut House

BOOK ONE IN THE POPULAR BRAMBLEWICK SERIES

The Bramblewick series follows the lives and loves of the residents of a small village on the North York Moors. These contemporary romances are guaranteed to warm your heart.

Is home a place—or a person?

Anna's about to leave Bramblewick behind. She's due to marry her childhood sweetheart in a few weeks, and then she'll be heading to Kent and a whole new life.

Connor's a new arrival in Bramblewick. He's bringing with him a whole lot of baggage, and he's doubtful that this small village on the Yorkshire Moors is the ideal place for him and his daughter, Gracie.

It's not easy for Anna, watching Connor move into her family home and take over from her beloved father at the local surgery, but she's determined to help him settle in and adjust to rural life so that the villagers get the doctor they deserve.

Connor's not convinced. This country practice is very different to what he's used to, and the locals have some strange expectations of their GP.

Protective of Gracie and hiding behind self-constructed barriers, Connor struggles to adapt to life in Bramblewick. Can Anna convince him that this is the place where he and Gracie can finally find happiness?

And can she convince herself that leaving Bramblewick is the right move for her?

I don't usually read contemporary stories as history is my thing but this got so many good reviews I thought I'd give it a go.
Am glad I did. A nice story about village life and it's inhabitants. The new arrivals, the doctor and his daughter, are central to this story and also Anna, who has lived in the village all her life and is about to leave it.
Nice bit of angst thrown into the mix and I thought Gracie's problems were dealt with very well. Will definitely read the other two in the series.
Nice light reading for this time of year.

A lovely book about caring people, life challenges, and kindness. There is something wonderful about a guaranteed happy ending: in a weird way, I think it promotes mindfulness. And, it certainly reinforces hope. I loved the characters and can't wait to return to Bramblewick. Highly recommended.

Anna is leaving Bramblewick, the village in Yorkshire she has always called home, to be married to her childhood sweetheart. Her father was the village doctor, but now a new doctor is coming to take his place. Connor and his small daughter Gracie are trying to make a new start, but he's unsure if Bramblewick is the right place for this. Gracie has some issues and he thinks a small town may be too judgemental.
Connor and Anna don't hit it off right away. She doesn't like that he's taking her father's place, and he finds some of her attitudes about how a doctor should act rather odd. But she works in his office, at least, until she can train someone to take her place.
This is a cute story. My only criticism is that it was too short. I wanted to know more about Anna and Connor, and especially the village of Bramblewick. As always, Ms. Booth writes lovely descriptive prose about the countryside. I was happy to note the mention of Flynn Pennington-Rhys from A Kiss from A Rose; it makes me happy that he lived in Bramblewick before moving to Kearton Bay.

Bramblewick in Yorkshire, is the setting for this series of books by a new to me author. If this first book is an indicator of her writing, I can tell I'll be reading a fair few of her books.

Set in the small Yorkshire village of Bramblewick, this book centers around the small satelitte doctors surgery there. Run by the larger medical practice, Bramblewick Surgery is where Anna's the receptionist and her Dad was the GP. He died the year previously and she's been holding on until a replacement is found for both a GP and her role as receptionist. She is due to move to Kent, to marry Lee, who she grew up with in a month.

Single Dad, Connor has moved from Sheffield to take on the GP role, he has brought his daughter Gracie with him. Gracie has some issues which makes it hard for her to settle, so this move is fraught with worry.

Anna's replacement has been appointed, so that Monday morning it's all change at the surgery, with Connor and Beverley starting their new jobs. However, all doesn't go to plan, could this be the end of the surgery.

I really enjoyed this book and can see I'm going to binge reading this series. It the kind of series where the books are read in order of publication to preserve continuity of the characters and wider storyline.

Book 2 is already downloaded, and ready to be read.

Another brilliant read!

This is book one, I read the first two books the wrong way round but it didn't spoil the enjoyment of the story (I read book 2 again straight after this one).

What I like about this series of books is that they are based in a GP practice and also working in a GP Practice myself it's good to see familiar settings and the fact the details are correct regarding appointments and sessions. It's nice to read about changes and upheaval and how it affects everyone.

I urge more people to read this type of book.

Sharon Booth makes a great point about pushing through writer's block by just writing, even if it feels forced at first. It’s like how some say the best way to improve at anything—whether writing or even analyzing sports like on yacine tv live football—is to keep practicing, even when it’s tough. The key is consistency, so keep at it! Visit Now: https://www.yacinetvweb.com/

Another brilliant story by Sharon Booth that has filled my heart with good feelings. I fell in love with Bramblewick village and its inhabitants and I only wish I could live there! I read the story in a few hours and it left me wanting more. I hope number 2 of the Bramblewick books is not very far!

Easy pleasant read. I fell for the characters straight away and couldn't stop reading as i was keen to see what happens next.

I'm not normally a fan of series books but this book was an exception and I now can't wait to read the next instalment.

I loved this story of village life, turning points in life and compassion. I have read some of Sharon Booth's books before and she certainly is very talented at creating characters that feel so real, it's as if you know them. Heartwarming, uplifting, the next one is on my to-be-read list.

It certainly was a feel good cosy little book. Was nice to read a book that was true to how life can be rather than something far fetched. Wish it could have been longer, although I'm sure we'll see the surgery's staff in the others in the collection.

The story did not seem that believable to me. They fall in love immediately, she kisses him when he was still a stranger. I did not feel attached to this book.

This was a quick read - sweet, romantic story with likeable, realistically flawed characters. I enjoyed seeing how their dilemmas would play out. I’ll look forward to reading more in the Bramblewick series.
