As a historian and with his paternal parents immigrating from Rhodes, Rabbi Angel has written an excellent history of the Jews of this Greek island. I have visited Rhodes and its surviving synagogue, K.K. Shalom, several times. There is a monument to the Jews who perished in the Holocaust right off the town square. My only critique is that the author devotes a scant four pages to the deportation and extermination of the Jews during WWII. This episode could warrant a book in itself.
