Informative and kid friendly. Solid intro into the work and life of Carson. Comics within also hold an additional opportunity for analysis.

I loved this book. I had never heard of Rachel Carson and was glad to get to know her. This book explained the harm of pesticides in a way that anyone could understand and helped to illustrate how valuable the planet is. I like the way this book also tells of how Mrs. Carson come to love nature just by being in it.

I have read several of the Getting to Know… book collections by Mike Venezia and have enjoyed them all. This series on the inventors and scientists make science fun for young readers with its humorous cartoons and interesting easy to follow facts. Elementary/middle schools and libraries would be remiss in not purchasing the entire collection.

Alternating between photos and cartoon drawings, this book presents an overview of Rachel Carson's life and her significance for environmentalism.

First book I read to my kid about Rachel Carson. It was easy to understand for a small child, a good intro. Today I read the second and third books about her to my kid.

This book reads like a well-curated exhibit on Carson, with photos, artifacts, and Venezia's cartoons explaining environmental cause/effect and the need for protection.
