This was absolutely adorable. This would be such a fun book for a middle elementary student. The language is both imaginative and full of good possible vocabulary words. The story was fun with distinct conflict.

The book the Magic Puppy by Sue Bentley tells the story of a wolf that has powers to turn in to anything and one day a bad wolf that killed his dad and hurt his mom was coming after that magic wolf. And all this sudden the little wolf has gold sparkles around him and he ends up at this barn in the city and he turned into a puppy. And that day a little girl comes into the barn which is at her cousin's house that she is staying at and her cousin pushes her into the cage with one of the goats and her cousin runs away so all this sudden the goat was frozen and the gold sparkles appear and there was the little puppy. and so latter on in the book they became best friends and also i forgot to tell you that the puppy can talk and only she can hear him so she also has to keep that a secret. And so i would recommend this book if you like puppies and if you like keeping secrets.

I read this book to my little sister, but I wound up really liking it! This is about a puppy that comes from a magical land and needs to go to earth to get away from other dogs that wanted to attack him. Storm is the puppy's name and when he came to earth he was invisible, but the girl he chose to be his master was the only one that could see him. It was hard for Lola to make friends and invisible Storm really helped. So she kept Storm safe and he helped her to make friends!

The only reason this book (and all other Magic Puppy/Kitten/Bunny/Horse books) get any stars at all is that they encourage my daughter to read. But that's only because I've flat out refused to read her any more of this formulaic drivel, and she's 9 and has no sense of how truly terrible the writing is. We've read several of these books now, and the template is always the same. Wolf/lion has to leave their mother because evil wolf/lion is after them. Magically transforms info cuddly puppy/kitten and shows up in life of little girl. Little girl is having some sort of problem, which magic puppy/kitten helps to solve before unexpectedly being summoned home to wolf/lion family. Don't forget to insert many, many references to animal's "midnight blue eyes" so we know just how irresistible puppy/kitten is. Oh wait, kitten has green eyes - emerald green? Leprechaun crap green? Vomit green? I'm not sure. Daughter read the kitten one herself after I imposed the moratorium. I can't think of any book I've ever read with more amateurish writing than this series. They feel distinctly like they're churned out solely as a money grab, pandering to young girls who like cute animals more than they like actual plot lines. Absolute garbage.

Not enough cliffhangers!

They should add a cliffhanger to the ends of the books that make it related to the other books to make it interesting. The books always end with “I will never forget you storm” and crying and then storm just disappears. They need to add more connection from one book to another. The only other thing they need to fix is MORE MAGIC PUPPIES. It is always just STORM. It should change from book to book.

Cute story. Good character development. It will be a good book for niece. I am going to read more of these as they are cute, quick reads.
