Nicky Sullivan gives her life to nurturing others: her mother and brother, animals she rescues – everyone but herself. When she is given the opportunity for a beach vacation, we wonder whether she can actually use it to recharge and give attention to creating the exquisite drawings that have been her sustenance. Nicky Sullivan of Boston seeks peace and renewal on a South Carolina barrier island but finds mystery and plots within plots when she tries to help the leatherneck turtles keep their nesting places. Taste the shrimp, feel the sand and smell the salt in the air in Rose Senehi’s novel, Pelican Watch. The islands routinely alter shape due to winds, surf and hurricanes but developers want to attack the soul of the island by destroying the dunes and animal habitat in order to add more condominiums to ...more

A nice story that takes place just down the road from me near McClennanville. The author was local, and as a side note owned the house my cousin just bought, and has written other lowcountry books. I enjoyed her easy style and she used just about every "southern style item" there is...the food, the shag dance, the turtles, the lifestyle, the clothing, etc. No great all American novel, but a fun story to read.

This author wrote this book while living in my new Murrells Inlet house. Good story. Predictable storyline.

Contemporary fiction writer, Rose Senehi, is noted for weaving historical data into her romantic thrillers. CAROLINA BELLE, A Love Story, is her eighth novel and takes place in an apple orchard in Hendersonville, NC. Read this novel, and you'll never look at an apple the same way again. Among her five "stand-alone" novels that take place in the Southern Blue Ridge are "Dancing on Rocks," winner of ...more
