Motorcycle Touring in the Southwest: The Region's Best Rides

Rate this book
Forty classic rides through the region's quintessential scenes * Where better to partake in the pleasures of motorcycle touring―whether a Sunday afternoon ride with friends or a multiday adventure―than the Southwest, where one can do so all year round, often on roads that stretch out over stunning landscapes as far as the eye can see? Now, with Motorcycle Touring in the Southwest , bikers have an unparalleled guide describing forty classic rides across the region's quintessential scenes―including Utah, Southwestern Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and the Las Vegas area. In friendly prose peppered with anecdotes and sidebars, Christy Karras and Stephen Zusy describe the routes―most representing about a day's worth of riding―and include a map for each, color photographs, and details aplenty on road conditions and terrain, interesting sites, amenities, and side trips.

The first thing to know about Christy Karras: she is deeply grateful to everyone who reads her books. Writing is a crazy business, and it helps to be reminded that readers just might be out there enjoying books.

Christy Karras is the author or co-author of four books: Motorcycle Touring in the Pacific Northwest, Motorcycle Touring in the Southwest; More than Petticoats: Remarkable Utah Women, and Scenic Driving: Utah. She is a regular contributor to the Seattle Times and has written for publications ranging from Salt Lake City Weekly to the New York Times. She writes about subject ranging from arts and entertainment to outdoors and travel.

Christy is also an editor with experience in magazines, books (fiction and nonfiction), and websites. She presents classes and workshops on writing, editing, and publishing. She hopes to someday teach Football 101.

Her life has been more interesting than she ever intended. She was a White House intern; won $64,000 on the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" game show; and met the Queen of England in a scene later portrayed in the movie "The Queen" (filmmakers did not consult her).

When she is not on the road, she lives with her husband, Bill, and rambunctious pets.
