I absolutely loved The Masquerade and The Prize, so I was really excited to read this as well. This book was not romantic at all, it was annoying. It was basically Elle fighting for her step-brother Sean to acknowledge that he loves her for 99% of the book, he was blunt and rude about denying his feelings but she wouldn't give up ... and then mixed in with some war stories that I did not care to read about. That scene in the beginning when he steals into the house and they kiss/make out for the ...more

I'm leaving another book unfinished. House-sitting for my fellow book loving friend, I'm reminded there are far too many stories to discover to waste time on disappointments.

This book should have been finished by now. The whole thing has been insanely repetitive. It's as though the main characters aren't sure you're paying attention, and repeat all their thoughts and actions, and the reasons behind them, literally, every three pages. I've read other books in this series, but none have been as t
My lower rating for this book is not a comment on the quality of the writing or the flow of the story. That all flowed fairly well. My issue with this book is that I was rather frustrated with the heroine's "I-hate-you/I-love-you" back and forth. I was a bit tiresome after a while. But it is part of the books drama, so I guess the author could not have made a less fickle heroine. Also, I felt like there should have been more of a resolution in regards to the major villain. Ultimately I do not re ...more

this book was very well done, the paceing of the novel was perfect. it never felt rushed or draged out. the characters were also very involving however i did find the heroine to be oddly fickle just in the sence that she loved him so deeply then claimed to hate him the next second then twenty seconds later she realizes that she realy does love him after all, 300 pages of that gets a tad annoying but thats really the only major flaw. I defenitly want to read more De Warenne books and will be look ...more

Not bad, not bad.

I'm finding I don't care for sucky tortured heroes - I'd rather they were just bastards who needed the love of good woman like me, or in other words, an alpha. They can be tortured, but they still need to be strong. I did like the writing, and the storytelling -- I'd read more of this series. Oh, the other thing that I liked was that you couldn't really tell it was part of a series! It stands by itself. What a nice change.

An excellent read. I would actually give this one 4.5 stars but that wasn't possible so I stuck with the 4. It would have been a 5, but the heroine was annoying at times, forgiving in some ways and unforgiving to the point of petty in others. It's easily dismissed, however, because from the first page your gripped by the history of these two characters and their undeniable connection. The Hero/Heroine have grownup together and I love that the author writes in many of their memories and shared mo ...more

This first half of this book is HORRIBLE, slow, boring, and more adjectives.
La segunda parte es COMPLETAMENTE DIFERENTE. Rápida, adictiva, te sorprende, y te deja esperando más.
The second one is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. Fast, addictive, it surprises you, and it leaves you wanting more.

I had to MAKE myself read this book. Kept thinking it would get better. Brenda Joyce is such a good writer. This book was a huge let-down.
Sean O'Neill had restored the manor home that had been in his family for almost four hundred years. The house had been destroyed by British troops. He had rebuilt Askeaton for his older brother, Devlin, while he had been a captain in the royal navy, engaged in war with the French. Devlin had resigned his commission and was returning to Askeaton to stay with his bride, Virginia.
Sean prepared to leave to find what was out in the world for him. His stepsister, Elle, came to see him. Eleanor had gr

For her whole life, Sean has protected her and she has loved him. When he left Elle behind to go off and explore what life had open to him, he promised to come back. Four years later, Eleanor is about to marry a man she is very fond of, but her heart still aches for the only man she could truly love, her step-brother Sean.

The four years away had destroyed a key part of Sean. Spending two years in a prison pit, fed like a dog, beaten and abused, his mind shattering apart, he manages to escape, on

Sean and Elenor have always been my favorite characters in this series and now their story is finally being told and its amazing (living up to Brenda Joyce's other amazing works). Elanor was always loved her step brother (no blood relation) even when they were young, but he never seemed to look at her that way, only she was wrong. After being away for years Sean returns but only to see that Elanor has been engaged. He can't admit it, but he hates it and despite meaning to leave without El ever s ...more

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. What a tear inducing rollercoaster this is. Sean's story is heart-wrenching and horrific, and he makes you want to put your arms around him and make all the pain go away. Which is what Eleanor tries to do. She's waited for his love her whole life, and waited for his return for 4 years. Then she gives up waiting on him, finally deciding it's time to move on and she agrees to marry Peter, who has got to be the nicest guy ever. B ...more

Except for the fact that I am uneasy about stepchildren love, I did enjoy the story, but, I felt that Elle really begged way to much. Over and over the hero told her he did not want her the way she wanted him, and still she was determined to make him hers. That was uncomfortable. Also, her fiance was overly nice. Over-Ly nice. I kept waiting for him to have a set of balls, but he never had any, and I felt bad that he had so much to give and the bitch just did not want him. Hey, Peter... if you e ...more

The heroine in this book falls in love with her step brother, so I was happy to see that the author addressed the brother/sister issue well - but is was the 1800s, and people married their first cousins without a care in the world. The hero in the book, Sean, is put into solitary confinement in an English prison and left there for two years - the author effectively describes his over-stimulated senses and nerves once he escapes.

Eleanor, the heroine, is a little too quick to forgive here and the

Ben genel anlamda beğendim tavsiye ede ...more
This book was emotionally more taxing than I had anticipated. I thought it was going to be about a long lost love who came back to steal the bride away right before her wedding. Thats not exactly what it was, but that did happen.

I don't have too much to say except that throughout the whole book Sean was pushing Elle away and trying to distance himself from her emotionally. So when he finally decided he wanted her I had a hard time reconciling that Sean with the earlier brooding, broken, angry an

I got a quarter of the way into this book and I couldn't continue due to: 1) the yucky semi-incestuous stepsibling romance between Eleanor and Sean; 2) Eleanor's stalker tendencies toward her stepbrother who never seemed to reciprocate her romantic illusions; and 3) Eleanor's selfish abandonment of her fiancé on the eve of her wedding.

This book put me off Brenda Joyce altogether, but I've read a number of reviews of The Stolen Bride by those who claim to be longtime Joyce fans. The reviews of t

As children we have our crush, but when if you knew they were really the one? When if the one kept fighting fate only to reappear unexpectedly? Do you honor your agreement and marry for honor or do you marry for love? You will enjoy this read in The De Warenne Dynasty Series. Sometimes you find books that hit the heart, hard.
