Kourtney 'Ko-Ko' Jackson has no boundaries when it comes to being promiscuous. Known for having flirtatious behavior, along with an out of control sex addiction, Ko-Ko goes after every man who crosses her path. However, she will ultimately cross the line when she uses her playful seduction to catch her best friend, Lynn's only son Rayshawn. Rayshawn, a young handsome man who's never had a problem attracting the opposite sex, is too much eye candy for Ko-Ko to resist. In order for their secret relationship to progress, they must maneuver around an angry single mother, Ko-Ko's jealous daughter and tons of prying eyes. Just when things start to heat in their hush-hush love affair, Felice, the stacked and attractive owner of Fantasy Girlz Magazine throws herself in the burning fire and heats up things even more. The only problem is, Ko-Ko refuses to share and spins a web of intricate lies, cover-up stories and false alibis to have Rayshawn all to herself. Unfortunately, when all their emotions hit a boiling point, the drama intensifies and a shocking secret from the past threatens to ruin it all.
I'm just going to come right out and say it, this book is nasty as hell. I mean, nasty! I finished it because I wanted to know how it ended but afterwards I wanted to puke. I'm not a prude, but this is getting ridiculous. The shock value is there, I assure you and it is definitely a hot ghetto ass mess. I feel like I need to go to church or bathe in some holy water... something, anything to cleanse my mind. Yuck.
Review: My Man, Her Son by J. Tremble ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (but honestly, I don’t even know why)
Read in 2025. Published in 2010. That’s 15 years of pure urban lit chaos marinating in scandal and somehow it still hits like a slap in a satin jacket.
This book is filth. Not in a bad way. Not in a good way. Just in a “what did I just read and why am I still thinking about it?” kind of way. It’s like J. Tremble tried to squeeze one last shock out of the first shock, then layered it with betrayal, forbidden love, and characters who make choices that should come with a warning label.
Ko-Ko? Ma’am. She didn’t just cross the line she set it on fire and danced through the ashes. The plot twists were so unhinged I had to pause and whisper “wow” to myself more than once. And that one twist? You know the one. I needed a moment. Maybe a therapist.
I didn’t want to rate this. I still don’t. But here we are: 3 stars. Because I was entertained, confused, emotionally wrecked, and somehow nostalgic for the drama I swore I’d outgrown.
If you like this book you'll probably like: - Secrets of a Housewife by J. Tremble (same author, same chaos) - Bedroom Gangsta by J. Tremble (yes, that’s a real title and yes, it delivers) - Thugs and the Women Who Love Them by Wahida Clark - Addicted by Zane (the blueprint for emotional damage in stilettos) - More Secrets, More Lies by J. Tremble (because apparently the secrets never end)
I wanted to read this book because I tend to dig stories with Age-Gap relationships.
This was hands down one of the most disturbing, nastiest, most uncomfortable books that I have read. I was shocked by the events in this book but not in a good way. The one part I enjoyed was the relationship between Rayshawn and Felice. However, they completely destroyed that relationship by the end of the story. I cannot even try to rate this book.
I know that we have all heard of about love triangles but have you ever heard of a love square…. In corner #1 we have Ko-Ko. She is a very sex- driven individual that will not stop for anything to get the man that she wants. Corner #2 we have Rayshawn, now he is the son Ko-Ko’s best friend, Lynn… Ko-Ko gets him a job working at a magazine company as a photographer. Very handsome young man… and the key word being young. Corner #3 we have Felice… Now she is the manager and owner of the magazine that Ko-Ko and Rayshawn work at… She wants a piece of the Rayshawn as well as he wants some of her… She is really not what you think of her to be and in the last but far from least we have in Corner #4 Kiara… She is Ko-Ko daughter’s. She has a thang for Rayshawn… with all these players in each corner we come up with a lot of lovers, ex-lovers, family, sidepieces, and stalkers …. But that is not the biggest shock. The ending will leave you thinking it this possible and to some you might just think that it is just plain sick… But who will Rayshawn choose to live the rest of his life with? Will that person say yes or is something that this person has done in the past make it impossible for the love to be…
Now Ko-Ko wants of taste of Rayshawn but when she gets that taste she wants to keep it to her self… But her daughter has been getting a taste of Rayshawn ever since they have been in school together… And in a way she feels that they have a future together. Lastly we have Felice… At first Felice wanted Rayshawn because Ko-Ko wanted him but things and feelings started to change
This is one book that you will never forget.. The twists, turns, scams, and lies will keep you at the edge of your seat… The ending is something that you will never be able to figure out… Will leave you guessing till the last page
Favorite Character: Ko-Ko She has issues but she is a go getter… Everything that she did might be consider ok by some and terrible by others but you have to say that she gets what she wants and when she wants it. She is what I consider as the best friend that the enemy needs.
Least Favorite Character: Lynn- She is just to protective of Rayshawn. I pray that I am do not grow up and be a mother like her. She was really getting on my nerves in this book treating that grown man like a baby.
What did you like about this book? OMG.. It has to be all the twists and turns… This book did not turn out anyway that I thought it would . I was a nice and a great change from the usually run away with the lover and live happily ever after ending… This ending keep you on your seat. But best of all it comes to a complete conclusion and leaves little questions behind.
What did you not like about this book? For me it was nothing not to like but for others they might think that the ending is sick and twisted.
Rate this book: 5 Stars All Day
What did I learn from this book? Things and people are not what they seem to be… And you can not help who you fall in love with and you can not help who falls in love with you…
This book is so smut filled, but it's hard to put down. It takes you to a drama filled world with so many twist and turns that keeps one guessing the whole time. I kinda put two and two together while I was reading it but I was shocked to learn the secretes that I did. I recommend this book for those with an open mind.
This story centered around a young twenty-something man who was like catnip to all the ladies including his mother's friend and maybe even his mother. There was one wild occurrence after another and a reveal that you could predict partially, but it was still interesting watching the characters react to the revelations of Rayshawn's familial history. The author layered in date rape, incest, and more to give you an over the top drama-filled story. As far as narration, the delivery was a bit high pitched on the verge of yelling whenever a character was voiced. All in all, an okay listen.
I read this book 4 years ago and til this day I still think about it. One of the most shocking books I’ve ever read so far very mind blowing this is why I keep people that’s too freaky away from me ‼️also some friends you know not your friends but you’ll still keep them around because you known them for years & helped each other out from time to time but some people you just need not to associate yourself with any longer
‼️ Great read but if you won’t mind some nasty sloppy sex stories please don’t read
I'm convinced I've read this book before and I was as annoyed then as I am now. The storyline was ridiculous and there were so many errors that I don't think it was edited prior to release. Note to authors: even with urban lit and street lit, editing is important.
Characters -Jasmine- 18 yr old Black girl -Mimi/Kim-Old school best friends -Janet- Stereotypical black woman/mother -Jake- Boyfriend -Kara- Sister with a baby name C.J -Rayshawn- Kara Boyfriend -Brittany/Amanda- New school best friends

Janet - Yeah, I needed you to take your butt to the corner store and get me a pack of smokes. Your 18 now make yourself useful. Jasmine - Ok, I will go then. Janet - No, your sister just went for me. Janet - That’s what I like to hear. How about some ribs tonight, but that will mess up my nails so make steak instead ok. Got to go.
(Janet Exits)
Jasmine - Man, I’m going to have to cancel on Jake again. This is the fifth time this month alone. I can’t wait to finish my last two weeks of high school, move with Jake to New York and go to school where we could both become doctors in a children’s hospital. We could live together and get married in a couple of years. Have two kids after a while. A boy and a girl named Jake Jr. and Taylor Lee. We would be the perfect family. It can all be mine, if I just take a deep breath and get through these two weeks smoothly. Starting by texting Jake that I can’t make it tonight for dinner and a movie. (Picks up phone texting) Than going downstairs and cook dinner for my headache or a family. (Gets off the bed and walks to door and takes a deep breath) One step at a time. (Walks out of the room).
This novel is simply about a woman named KoKo who is known for playing games and getting what she wants when it comes to men. She then falls in love with her best friend of many years (Lynn) son, Rayshawn. KoKo will do anything it takes to keep Rayshawn in her life even if that means lying and taking full control of situations so she can have the power and the upper hand. KoKo get her daughter involved, Kiara when Rayshawn isnt as interested in her as KoKo is with him.
Rayshawn's mother, Lynn is very over-protective of her son and feels his life will be better if he just finished college and stop bring women home. But Rayshawn feels he is a grown man and can date who he wants and that his mom should be able to understand and allow Rayshawn to live his life the way he wants.
With all the up and down sexual chaos that KoKo has caused along with the trouble with her boss at her job, Felice have now started to intertwined with Rayshawn.
In this novel that are a lot of secrets and lies and crazy moments that I wasn't prepared for. This novel is 4 stars because although I loved this novel and all craziness and drama that it brought, it took me awhile to digest all of the plot twists because there was so many of them and were very unexpected.
I loved J. Trembles writing, he has a great way with words and details and with a novel like this you have to be able to give the readers exactly what they want as far as writing goes.
I would recommend this novel to people who love reading urban literature just as much as I do. This novel is for people who enjoy nonstop drama and a world filled with fun crazy characters. I will be looking into more of J. Tremble's other works.
Good book. Rayshawn was a man trying to be a man but, his mom treated him like a child and wanted him to do what she wanted him to do.
Lynn was his mom. Her friend Ko-Ko hire Rayshawn at her job but, when Ko-ko boss starts to come on to Rayshawn Ko-ko wanted to show her off and ends up getting with Rayshawn her bestfriends's son.
That lead to Ko-ko falling for him and doing everything to get him. Even use her daughter Kiara that Rayshawn used to mess with to get at Rayshawn.
Rayshawn falls for his boss Felice that Ko-ko has a little secret about and in order to keep Felice away from Rayshawn Ko-ko threatens to tell everyone Felice's secrete.
Rayshawnn finds himself running from Ko-ko and her daughter and telling his mom to mind her own business he's a grown man. But, when his mother Lynn finds out Felice's secret and determine to keep it from Rayshawn so it wont hurt him.
Book was great first time reading a book by J. Tremble I liked this a lot great storyline and OMG wouldn't guess everything that happened.
Okay this book started out really good......I thought that this was just about an older woman falling for her best friend's son.....NOT....it was so much more which I am not sure was a good or bad thing.....First off there was Lynn a woman who was overly protective of her grown son....Secondly there was Ko-Ko who seemed to be crazy and couldn't take no for an answer......Then came Kiara and Felice.....There was some very sick stuff going on in this book, some of it you will see coming as you get into the story and some you might find your self saying WTH.........Not saying that it wasn't a good read but it might not be for everyone.....All I can say is before it was over Rayshawn was DEFINITELY a grown man and his own man......
This book was fully of drama! The storyline was wild, a lot of sex going on throughout the book, Lynn an over protective controlling mother, that really needed to let her son grow up and stop babying him. She was acting as if she wanted her son instead of trying to have a love of her own. She also had three of the craziest girlfriends. Especially Ko Ko she really need to check herself, her character was way over the top. I didn't like the way she went about get Rayshawn and I definitively didn't like the daughter Kiara. Rayshawn Lynn's son was really trying hard to keep his dick wet and slept with any and everybody that would let him. I will say that the ending was a twist that I didn't see coming, yes I had some concerns about Felice but didn't expect that type of ending.
I feel like I need to go purify myself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka after reading this!!!! OMG OMG OMG! Ya'll just don't know! This book had my jaw dropping all through it. Yes this book is nasty so if you aren't ready for this you will be clutching your pearls. The characters were off the chain, especially that nasty tail Ko Ko. I suggest anyone who likes quick reads and graphic sex read this. LMAO @ Felice. I'm trying hard not to give anything away so I won't say much. This is one of those books you just have to read.
this was an ok read for me. this book had a lot of drama and erotic type scenes. the character developement could have been better which made this a slow read for me. Koko was a mess, but her character kept the drama going which kept me reading. recommended to those that love drama filled books
I wasn't planning on reading this book anytime soon, but it was an entertaining read. And for anyone who like rachetness slash drama beyond lifetime and the own network with a little hint of catiness, this is your book.
