….((Quote from this devotional: “When the world sees men dropping differences and coming together, the world is going to want what Christians have. ……But only God can build that bridge.”))
II love this devotional book a lot, it is short and right to the spot. He writes in a very easy to understandable way. I Love the scriptures that are being used in the book, and the matter of the fact is, that it feels like it is written Right to me. Pastor TD Jakes taught me a lot through this book, and the blessing og being able to wake up every day and study the word of God is SUCH A BLESSING Very very thankful for this opportunity to read a wonderful book like this
A good book, that is easy to read and loosely based around Bible Scripture. While the book, is not so much of a novel as devotional daily reading, it still reads really well. I would recommend men read this book, Christian or not. The message is clear and easy to understand. I did not know who T.D Jakes was before reading this book and developed respect for his ministry and preaching abilities. The book had some lasting impact on me. The only downside was how the book was written, that it was not a novel, that it is VERY paragraphed and reads like it may have been written by someone else typing T.D Jakes quotes and words. It would be a good read for a person who does not do much reading or a Christian man who does not regularly read their bible. I would also recommend it to family men and struggling addicts. The book also did set me straight about what it takes to be a man in ministry and with family. The book seemed genuine and appeared to have no real hidden agenda.
The book is very encouraging and helpful for men. This isn't a self-help book but rather a book to help men who are seeking to solve their problems from a Biblical perspective which self-help books don't focus on and ignore. Some self-help books are secular, this book from Bishop Jakes is from a Bishop who is a Christian.
In times like these, it is good to read a book to help build men up spiritually and unlock their godly potential. I highly recommend this book.
Bishop TD Jakes has been doing this "transformation" through writing thing for a long time. I recently saw this title re-released at a local Walgreen's $13.99. I opened the book and saw the copyright was dated back to 1997. I scored it on amazon for $2.50 and am enjoying and resonating with each devotional. Thanks again Bishop Jakes for sharing your anointing!
Easy read, wonderfully thought provoking. Wish I could have read this as a younger man.Asks questions I had not, yet should have considered at any stage of my life.Better late than never. Written by a real straight forward man of God.
It was an easy, quick read that I completed in one sitting within one hour.
Key points : What others call you, you will believe and eventually will become. Therefore I desire to connect with those who build and edify you to become who Jesus sees you to be.
Dysfunctional families is the norm since it stems from Cain and Able, known as the first recorded.
Excuses are lame.
Same murdering spirits exist today like that which was in Cain, the first murderer.
Choose your attitude.
Keep an Inventory of God's promises.
John openly loved Jesus.
Fave chapter was in the realm of the spirits. We are fault finders where we blame and find fault in all things. Own up is my thoughts on this and be accountable for your actions.
Evil passes thru our bloodline, we call as Spiritual stronghold.
Blessings passed from generation to generation (what I want not curses).
He touched on how men need a father figure or will turn to the streets, such as gangs. I see this a lot at work. No fathers in home or bad influences from the men in their lives. Seek identity and a name for themselves.
Walk in their likeness, have prime example of Abraham who said his wife was a half sister to save his own, where this deceit passed to his son Isaac. He didn't know what his father had done but he gave his wife to the same king. History repeats itself, even thru our bloodline or generations to come.
This 60 days devotional for men is a must read. Most times we shy away from the real issues and never handing them to Jesus. This book helps men open up a bit and permits Christ to do the real healing and restoration.
