This was a fabulous, VERY easy to read look into the beginnings of Murakami. I highly recommend as a starting place if you want to know more about him or are doing a research paper. Though, for me personally, this was very surface level and had most things I already knew about him. But it was still very fun to read through and VERY useful to get basic info about his life and works!

This is a great and detailed overview of Murakami's writing and perfect JNF. Teachers should have this on their shelves for students to read after high stakes tests and the quick test takers are done and need something engaging. Haruki Murakami is a celebrated Japanese novelist and translator, known for his deeply imaginative and often ambiguous works. He is the author of international bestsellers like "Norwegian Wood," "The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle," and "Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World". Born in Kyoto in 1949, he studied drama at Waseda University and later opened a jazz bar with his wife before embarking on his writing career. An avid runner, Murakami also wrote a non-fiction books on the Tokyo subway gas attack and his personal journey in running.

Este libro fue mi introducción al autor japonés, recomendado por mi hijo, me parecía una lectura fácil, y me encontré con todo lo contrario, muy profundo, personajes cuyas personalidades presentan al lector sus almas desnudas y casi nunca felices, personajes jóvenes, cuya soledad va más allá de lo que se ve....
Sin duda me gusto, el titulo hace referencia a la canción de los Beatles y ahora cada vez que la oigo puedo imaginarme perfectamente la escena del libro donde Murakami la usa...
