The author of this book is currently teaching a class I'm in the middle of taking. In my experience, when a professor requires his own book to be read as part of the class curriculum, it's never a good sign. However, Mr. Kuhlken's case is a definite exception. Writing and the Spirit doesn't deal with any grammatical or stylistic issues involved in the writing process, and yet it's easily one of the best books on writing I've ever read.
