Pamela Crawford, container garden guru and the queen of easy gardening, grew 1768 veggies and herbs over a two year period to discover which edibles did best in containers. Her efforts yielded two books, this one and 'Easy Patio Veggie & Herbs.' This book shows how to create beautiful veggie-flower combos. The other book focuses on beautiful veggies in containers, with lots more emphasis on gorgeous planted edibles for food production rather than flowering combos.. She shows you how to grow vegetables in containers with such easy techniques that even the worst gardener can have bumper crops of tomatoes! And, for the first time in any book, she shows how to make your vegetables look great, worthy of the nicest patio! Pamela grew 1768 plants in the course of writing this book and shows her mistakes (bloopers) along with her successes so that you won't make the same mistakes with your vegetables. With these simple-to-follow instructions, you won t believe how easy and fun it is to create lovely veggie-flower combos.
Beautiful pictures and some good ideas ... but all of her containers seemed a bit overwhelmed to me. I prefer a bit more space between my plants and i hate replanting. From this book i learned that containers may not be for me as they appear to require a fair amount of planning and replanting.
The photos are lovely, but the book is very poorly written. No botanical names for ANYTHING, thus making it really difficult to actually plant what the author suggests. I enjoyed looking through it quickly, but wish I'd read the reviews before purchasing. I've already passed it on.
A very good guide for mixing vegetables and flowers in a eye-catching and tasty way! It shares some failures in their trials as well to help you understand why they tell you what works and what doesn't work. Great photos!
This book gives some good, basic vegetable container gardening tips, which is exactly what I was looking for. Recommend it to a non-professional gardener!
