Crocs play baseball, basketball, golf and table tennis on the wrong fields and courts, using the incorrect equipment with no respect for the rules. A game of tag is played by crocodiles dressed in tennis shorts, soccer players play hide and seek, and foot-ballers play ring-around-the-rosie.
This book is very silly, but surprising. You expect it to just be a classic format, you see the crocs obviously getting ready to play baseball and turn the page knowing what's next. But suddenly they're playing basketball with their baseball equipment and through the book their games get sillier and sillier until the end. A great find for my daughter who loves crocodiles but isn't so interested in sports yet to bridge the gap!
Excellent read-aloud. The vocabulary is varied--sometimes stretching beyond what young children will understand, but the rhyming format of the text and the trajectory of the story allieviate that problem. This is the story of crocodiles who equip themselves to play one sport and then play another game/sport entirely. Children are delighted with these mixed-up crocs!
