I've been working on this book since the beginning of the New Year. I am trying to read more about other countries and their culture and traditions, as I don't have the means to travel to all these wonderful places, but I can still become more educated about them!

This book is jam-packed with all information you want to know about Costa Rica! Some things that stuck out to me the most were the following:

There is no standing military.

Costa Rica is the second largest exporter of bananas in the world.

Deforestation is a huge problem and has resulted in many animal and plant species becoming endangered.

Peace is a central value for Costa Ricans both on a political and personal level.

Costa Ricans consider family to be the cornerstone of society.

Costa Rica boasts a literacy rate of 96% - the highest in Central America.

Since 1970 Costa Rica has devoted about a quarter of the national budget to education.

If you are looking to learn more about Costa Rica, or your kids have a school project, this book is a must!
