Se fossi al tavolo con i miei amici direi “ah rega ma sta cosa che ho letto è una grandissima cagata, un troll assurdo, Ammanniti che ci piglia per il culo a tutti.”
Non sono seduta al bar con i miei amici, quindi scusate la volgarità ma mi sembra che questo modo di metterla giù sia il più efficace.

Abandoned due to disgusting, offensive and completely unnecessary rape scene. To be clear: offensive because of the context and the way it was described and presented, not simply because there was a rape scene. Suffice to say, this book should come with a big fuck-off trigger warning. I already thought the main characters were both idiots anyway, so there was no way I was going to continue with it after that.
Secondo me Ammaniti non si è mai divertito tanto nello scrivere un libro! 'Sta roba diventa sempre più folle e sempre più creativa man mano che si girano le pagine. Davvero non so dove prenda le idee, e per me la sua è davvero una creatività geniale.

At first I thought this was supposed to be a satire, but I wasn't sure what exactly was being satirised. Italian society as a whole? The literary scene? It seemed to lack focus. But as it went on I realised that it was just a lurid, violent black comedy without very much to say about the world. Maybe if you accept that you might find it entertaining, and some of the scenes involving the pathetic, failed satanist sect are quite amusing.

Δεύτερο βιβλίο του συγγραφέα που διαβάζω, μετά το πολύ καλό και ιδιαίτερο "Εγώ δεν φοβάμαι" που διάβασα τον Φεβρουάριο του 2015. Εκείνο ήταν ένα δραματικό βιβλίο, μια ιστορία ενηλικίωσης με στοιχεία εγκλήματος και μυστηρίου, με τον συγγραφέα να είναι σοβαρός, αυτό που μόλις τελείωσα είναι ένας συνδυασμός κοινωνικής σάτιρας, μαύρης κωμωδίας και περιπέτειας, με τον συγγραφέα να έχει κάμποση όρεξη για πλάκα και υπερβολές.

Won't be for everyone...never thought I would be interested in a dress about a satanic cult but it was just so good. The plot twisted and turned. The Roman backdrop was just what I needed. The Argo like historical plot added even more dimension. I LOVED it!

The book has its faults. Some of the descriptions are a bit heavy-handed and the short chapters mean you’re continually flipping from one storyline to the next and back. It all adds to the general feeling of disorientation though. Remember what Wikipedia says about a farce—“viewers are encouraged not to try to follow the plot in order to avoid becoming confused and overwhelmed”—well the same goes for readers here and, yet, to be fair, I picked up on all major plot points throughout the reading;

Era un po' che non leggevo Ammaniti e devo dire che è stato un piacevole ritrovarsi. Un libro assurdo, folle e divertente, un po' pulp ma non troppo, una galleria di personaggi sui generis, eppure così attuali. Ognuno con la sua storia, ognuno a questa grande festa con un obiettivo diverso, ma le cose non andranno esattamente come sperato per nessuno. Si legge in un fiato e lascia un senso di leggerezza (ma anche un retrogusto un po' amaro, in fondo).

Grottesco, scorretto e satirico. Ad alcuni non è piaciuto per questi motivi, a me è piaciuto proprio per questi motivi. Una lettura decisamente leggera, ma che intrattiene con momenti al limite della follia. Adoro!
I hadn't heard of this book but I'm glad I stumbled across it in my library sale section. I picked it up for 20 cents and decided to give it a go. Mah. Io ho amato l'Ammaniti di Io non ho paura perchè raccontava una storia semplice ma forte. Poi certi racconti mi sono anche piaciuti, ma fondamentalmente questo genere non è quello che fa per me. Come mio primo Ammaniti mi è capitato questo libro singolare, grottesco, con scene comiche che si alternano a quelle raccapriccianti o coincidono con esse e un risvolto alla Jurassic Park in salsa romana forse prevedibile, ma comunque di intrattenimento e d'effetto. Toliko sam puta pokušala dovršiti ovu knjigu da je i sam pokušaj jednostavno izgubio svoj smisao. Moram priznati da se ne sjećam kada sam pročitala knjigu s toliko iritantnih likova i radnji, čak su i sotonisti koji se spominju u knjizi u jednom trenutku od zanimljivih postali pa tragični. Definitivno ne za mene!
If you love the Quentin Tarantino movies you will love to read the books of Niccolò Ammaniti. Not everybody will love his dark sense of humour but I surely do. Het boek lag ergens in een vergeten hoekje, maar uiteindelijk hier toch aan begonnen. En daar ben ik blij om. Het boek is zeer absurd, maar dat wist ik zeker te pruimen. Geen aanrader voor wie niet van onrealistische plotwendingen houdt.
