Finding Freia Lockhart

Rate this book
Freia Lockhart just wants to fit in at school but her best friend Kate is determined to get in with the popular Belinda, Bethanee and Brianna. Even Freia knows when she hangs out with the Bs she fits in like a turkey in a flock of flamingos. Kate convinces Freia to audition for the school play so they can 'all hang out together' and meet all the cute guys. Predictably, Freia misses out on a chorus role and instead is assigned to production lighting, with rumoured bad boy Daniel.Freia soon learns first impressions aren’t always correct and when Daniel needs a friend, she risks her reputation and place among the Bs to support him. The most surprising development is the group of friends she ends up spending her time with. On opening night there’s not a B in sight.

I really enjoyed this book. To be fair, it didn't have an original premise or any spectacular characters but the writing was captivating and I grew to like Freia and her parents. I admit I laughed a lot while reading this. I would've given it a higher rating but I am stricter with it now because otherwise all books would be rated 4 or 5 stars haha. Obviously since February my reading tastes have changed, but this book brought me out of my 4-month reading slump and for that I am grateful! This was a completely random pick from the library shelf from looking at the spine, which drew me in. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a fun, light read with many laugh-out-loud moments :)

When Freia's best pal: Kate, starts hanging out with the posh B group, Freia finds out that it is hard to fit in with the Bs, but she just has to fit in.. to keep her friendship with Kate. Now she's been roped into the school musical. She met Daniel, or the Skeletor. many people said he was a druggie and such. But it occurred to be that it was all wrong about him! Directly or not, she starts being 'the closest thing to a friend' to him. She also starts being her real self! Not the "Posh Fake Trying-to-fit-in Freia" anymore. Finally, Freia accomplished her mission to find Freia Lockhart, her real true self.

I loved this book and have to admit to reading it twice and am already thinking about going back for more! Freia Lockhart is a character I felt I could really relate to. She was a very realistic character who goes through typical teenage drama. Her narration was fantastic and the romance was super sweet (and very real). What I mean by saying the romance was very real is that I can actually see it happening, there is a lot of books where the romance is glorious but very hypothetical and fake. All in all a fantastic 'read-repeatedly' book. A brilliant first novel and I can't wait to see what Aimee Said brings us next.

well looks like my goal to read less girly books has gone down the toilet. this book is sort of similar to "shift" by Em Bailey. It deals with school status situations and the fact that you can be happy even if you're not popular. I would read it if you have read shift. It's a very pleasant read. 3.5 stars. And is it just me or was Belinda actually really funny.

I seriously fell in love with Freida. The way the story was written was so captivating that I felt annoyed when I have to put the book down. Having similar experience to Freida where your friend left you for a cooler clique, it makes me have a connection with her. I couldn't help myself from laughing or smiling to myself while reading. I need a guy like Daniel please! hahahaha
