Known to many as “The Grandmother of the Pentecostal Movement” Maria Woodworth- Etter has had a profound affect on the church. Hearing the call to serve God as a healing evangelist in 1885, she obeyed and began traveling across the United States holding Revival meetings. She received a healing from her own deathbed prior to her accepting the call to ministry.
Many who attended her Revival meetings would fall into trance like states, creating what she said looked almost like a battlefield at the alter, with bodies strewn everywhere under the power of the Holy Spirit. What we know today as being “slain in the Spirit” is credited as having began during her ministry.
Roberts Liardon, author of several “Gods Generals” books compiled her life teachings and sermons in this book. Filled with incredible stories of visions and miracles, as well as her belief that Satan is the author of sickness and disease, and Christ the author of life. She explains healing is for all who have faith and backs this up through many scriptures. She also believed in sanctification and holiness, without which no man would see the Lord. She firmly believed she was living in the very last days before the rapture of the church and the tribulation. Her firm grasp of eschatology and understanding of the days and times she was living in gave her an intense drive to see sinners saved and preach the salvation message, accompanied through signs and wonders and with a demonstration of power.

Compelling
Important to see the true Power of God at work. Many may scoff at the teachings of the Bible and Christianity , but when the Holy Spirit and miracles happen even the skeptics eyes are opened and true repentance happens.
