Allison Quinn #0.5

Her Solemn Oath

Rate this book
Allison Quinn has one mission—to find the person who killed her father.

Her job as a senior agent for Homeland Security just might help her do that. A cyber terrorist named Worm has threatened to release an EMP over the Seattle area, collapsing the northwestern communication and transportation sector.

Allison has a vendetta to keep and a job to do. She vows to stop the terror attack and, in the process, interrogate Worm about her father’s murder.

Allison and her partner, Donovan Steele, track Worm to Hurricane Ridge. There, in the midst of a blizzard, they’ll either stop Worm or die trying.

Her Solemn Oath is a story about the promises we make and the pain we’re willing to endure to honor those promises.

From USA Today Bestselling author Vannetta Chapman comes a new thriller series ripped from today’s news. Her Solemn Oath is a prequel to the Allison Quinn Thriller series.

I’ve only know this author to write Christian fiction. This may be a foray into general market fiction given the colorful language:

“She was an experienced agent, and Worm was an asshole who would not escape.”

“The phrase he’d most frequently heard to describe her was hard-ass.”

“That didn’t mean she wanted to end her life this day, in this way, because of a prick named Worm.”

“What kind of asshole disables his own vehicle?”

“She’d find out, then she’d find him and kick his ass.”

Her Solemn Oath would have been better had the author omitted the profanity.

This prequel hooked me into the story and now it looks like I'm going to have to continue the series.

On another note, there were several swear words, which is a little disappointing.

Another 5 star series is happening at the fingers of Vannetta Chapman. This prequel was a wonderful but too quick read and has left me wanting more! more! more! I know I keep saying this but if Vannetta wrote a grocery or laundry list it would be a five star read. I like the dynamics of the main characters and loved how she got so much into such few pages. There isn't a genre that Vannetta cannot tackle and come out on top. Great place to start if you have never read a book by this author before. This will give you a taste of her writing and will leave you wanting more. First known to me as an Amish fiction writer, I couldn't read her books fast enough and read some multiple times. One of the very best today in that genre too! Read anything by her and I promise you will not be disappointed and will want more, more, more! Thanks Vanessa for honoring me with an ARC of this book and I am so happy to be the first Goodreads review.

Intelligent, interesting characters

I love when the characters in a book are intelligent and strong. They definitely are in Her Solemn Oath. There was action and intensity, which made you want to know what would happen next, typical of a Vannetta Chapman story. I usually read her Amish books but this one has got me wanting to check out her other style of writing. If they're as good as this one, I think I'm going to be busy for awhile.

Good Story

I like this author, but I definitely did not appreciate the language. There’s not a lot, but the story would be fine with no swear words. Otherwise, a good start to a new series

I am such a fan of Vannetta Chapman's suspense stories, and was excited to read this prequel to her new series featuring Allison Quinn. Because you can find the blurb about it elsewhere, I'll just say that Allison is on a life mission and I'm sure that the first full length novel will flesh out her character even more than the prequel has done. I love strong female leads, and Allison is tenacious and driven as she works to fight cyber-terrorism. I look forward to reading the first full-length book. The Kindle version is available March 23.
I was gifted with a copy of this Kindle-only story with no promise of a review. All thoughts are my own.

Cybercrime. A very current issue. This book was an excellent read. True suspense, at its finest! Vannetta Chapman was always my go to author for Amish fiction and is paving an amazing path to mystery and suspense. Allison is an agent with Homeland Security and takes on the task. She's an excellent character in this book and she is just amazing. This is the prequel, so there's more coming and I can't wait! You will love this!
I received an ebook copy from the author. All thoughts are my own.

Author Vannetta Chapman continues to amaze me with her versatility! I enjoy her thrillers and dystopian suspense novels as much as her Amish cozy mysteries and romances. This prequel to the Allison Quinn thriller series is another riveting page-turner! It sets up Allison's overarching goal to track down her father's killer while risking her life to fight cyberterrorism and nail the bad guys. A compelling blend of non-stop action plus deep and personal emotional stakes had me rooting for Allison and her partner and looking forward to book 1 in this series.

A cyber terrorist is attempting to cripple Seattle

This novella is a prequel to the Alison Quinn novels.

Allison Quinn and Donovan Steele track a cyber terrorist into a national park in the middle of a blizzard. The cyber terrorist is attempting to launch an EMP device to knock out the power, communications, and traffic lights in the Seattle area.

The cyber terrorist and his companions are well prepared. Fortunately, Allison and Donovan are determined to foil the cyber attack at all costs.

She is also investigating the death of her father, who was shot when she was only nine years of age. She needs answers about the cyberterrorist and her father. This is start of a wonderful series. Another spine-tingling peek into what could soon be our future! America’s safety…will it be it the hands of domestic terrorists and cyberpunks, or trained and committed government agents? We have become so dependent on technology that anyone who controls the grid will basically control our lives. Nice to think the good guys are just as smart! I love the chemistry between Allison and Donovan. And there are plenty of loose ends to anticipate in future volumes. Can.Not.Wait.

This first in a cybercrime series takes place in the Grand Canyon. Extensive research on the canyon is evident. If you like the David Baldacci books where the bodies stack up during the course of the story you will like this one.
Allison Quinn is an agent with the Department of Homeland Security. A cyberterrorist group will take down the grid all over America within the next 27 hours. There are kill codes available for sale to the highest bidder. The U.S. government did not win the bid but are determined to retrieve them. That's Allison's job and the one carrying those codes in going to pass them to the buyer while in the canyon. Allison must get there first.

This is going to be another good series from Vannetta Chapman. This is the prequel to this series. Allison Quinn is a part of the department of Homeland security in the cyber task force. She is also investigating the death of her father (on her own time) when she was 9 years old. She was there when he was shot. It continues to haunt her as an adult. Stay tuned for another suspenseful series.

Oh man, do I love military/government books! The action, the suspense, the thrills, the banter. And this short story had them all!

I really can't wait for the rest of the series, and I sincerely hope that Allison and Donovan are paired up in the subsequent books!

I have already ready all the books in the series and this book is a great introduction. It begins with Allison attending a meeting of the Seatle Cyber task force. It seems that a cyber terrorist known as the "Worm" has planned an attack which will cause havoc in the area. Each person has been assigned a partner and Allison gets Donovan. They have been given an area which requires a ferry trip and then wind up headed into a National Park. To make matters worse, there is snowstorm hindering their efforts. As they are searching in the park, they discover tracks in a trail that they follow. They come upon a truck which is empty. They discover footprints on the grornd and follow them to an area where they split up. Donavan goes one way and Allison another. As they got closer a confrontation happens and shots are fired.

To discover what happened in the confrontation, what the cyber terrorist had planned and what else happened, then you need to read this book. You won't be disappointed.

This fast paced story does everything a good prequel should. It skillfully introduces the characters and their backstories. It whets your appetite for the upcoming stories. The Allison Quinn series promises to be an exciting series.

This was an exciting edge of your seat prequel to the series Allison Quinn Thriller series and only available on Kindle. I enjoyed the suspense. I purchased the other two in paperback.
As others have already said I did not like the foul language. It is the first time I have seen it in a book by Vannetta Chapman. I will read the other two but if this talented writer has crossed the line with her language they will be my last.

Although I did enjoy reading this prequel, I did not enjoy it as much as the first of the series. But having the backstory of the relationship between the main character and her teammate was helpful. There’s some profanity that I felt was unnecessary.

Short but suspenseful. Allison just wants to find who killed her father. There’s much more danger out there. Her job is perfect to help solve the danger. Can’t wait for the next book.

I kinda liked the basic story but there was a bit too much language that I don't like in my reading material for me to be comfortable and enjoy the tale.
