The Great Rebellion

The State of Our World and How to Change It Through Practical Spirituality

Our world needs real change, inner change. This book shows how you can make it happen.

"When one discovers the real cause of so much misery and bitterness, it becomes obvious that something can be done..." - Samael Aun Weor

Do you want a better world and a better life? Do you thirst for genuine happiness? You can transcend suffering when you know about:

• The underlying cause of the world's pain and problems
• What consciousness is and how it works
• How cause and effect create your life
• The power within us that can cleanse the mind of faults and darkness

This book embraces and clarifies the essential wisdom within all the world's religions and spiritual traditions. Yet, change does not come from belief or theories. Real change comes from self-knowledge: gnosis. The Great Rebellion explains how all of the world's problems addiction, war, pollution, starvation, crime come from within us. By changing ourselves within, we change the world around us. This is the genuine foundation of every great spiritual tradition in the world. By truly becoming better people, the world becomes a better place.

Samael Aun Weor (which is a Hebrew name) wrote over sixty books, gave thousands of lectures, and formed the worldwide Gnostic Movement, whose members number in the millions. Though these accomplishments are certainly impressive by any standard, they are merely the pale terrestrial reflection of the work he accomplished internally, spiritually. And yet, in spite of his wisdom and generosity towards mankind, he said:

"Do not follow me. I am just a signpost. Reach your own Self-realization."

His lifelong mission was to deliver to humanity the complete path toward the realization of the inner Being, or in other words, the total and exact science required by anyone of any religion, race, culture or creed who wishes to fully and completely develop the human soul. The path he taught is the Path of the Bodhisattva, that mysterious and ancient wisdom long hidden in the bosom of every great religion.

"For as long as space endures and for as long as the world lasts, may I live dispelling the miseries of the world." - From The Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life by Shantideva

It pretty much hit the nail on the head with regard to the condition I find myself in in this world, so I could relate to the message immediately. It's a very powerful and effective opening chapter, which may appear bleak on the face of it, but it's simply realistic, and therein lies the hope it also gives.

I like how he parallels the degeneration of the planet and the environment to that of our minds. I've read the entire book through once now and have to say it's the only place I've seen these ideas about the nature of reality, and especially the nature of concepts and constructs of information, expressed so well.

Each of us carries leaky toxic waste and psychological time-bombs within the environment and terrain of our own minds. Through meditation we can delve into these minefields and through comprehension we can disarm the traps that otherwise are just lying dormant waiting to cause us and those around us horrible injury.

I sent this to a friend. He said it was too "negative." It's easy to mistake the conviction one feels when realizing the negative contributions we ourselves make to our degenerating society and write it off as "too negative." If you haven't ever done any meditative self-analysis. This is a good book to get you started.

The book brings to the forefront the harsh reality of the ego and the critical inner need to dissolve it, along with the methods to accomplish this.

In other words, the author points out that the causes of suffering, that brought the world to its current state, are within men, and if we dedicate ourselves to the observation of our inner states, we will discover that we are the source of the many miseries - the great rebellion referred to here is the rebellion against one's inner causes of pain, through self-observation, meditation, and alchemy.

I remember a saying from Jiddu Krishnamurti which fits well in this context, he said that people see injustice and corruption in the world, therefore they naturally rebel against society - but, strangely, they do not rebel against the inner psychological structure which has created this society.

This book gives the tools to achieve this rebellion scientifically, if we put in the effort to apply them.

Why is there so much war and violence in the world these days? By now we are numb to the atrocities. Why does God allow so much suffering?

Many have tried to answer these questions but failed. If you want to solve a problem you must first find the cause, then you will see the effect. This is the Law of Karma - cause and effect. It is the primary physical law of the universe, even the gods must obey it.

The real cause of suffering is not to be found pointing the finger at different nations, ethnicities, races or genders. Each individual must first see the cause of suffering in themselves. You cannot find the remedy for your suffering until you make a sincere, honest effort to analyze yourself.

Many people fail to see the causes of their suffering because we cannot be sincere and honest with ourselves. Because of our pride and self-love we cannot see ourselves as we are. The Great Rebellion is a comprehensive guide to help you through this process.

In order to eliminate our suffering we must:

See ourselves as we are, then find the causes of our suffering.
Realize we are asleep and raise the level of our consciousness.
Understand Karma and make it work in our favor. Karma is negotiable.
Take control of our lives by minimizing our desires and increasing our willpower.
Realize our spiritual side through the same message we received from Kristna and Buddha, Pythagoras and Plato, Mohammed and Christ.
