Stan and Jan Berenstain (often called The Berenstains) were American writers and illustrators best known for creating the children's book series the Berenstain Bears. Their son Mike Berenstain joined them as a creative team in the late 1980s.

There's nothing like a little fun in the sun with the Berenstain Bears! This time around, we go to the beach and have a nice summer vacation with the coolest bears in town. A great summer read full of sweet rhymes. =)

In this book, the Berenstain bears go on vacation to Gull Island. They go Fishing, they go to the gull island museum, swimming, building sand castles, browsing through the general store, eating delicious dinners at the Gull Island Cafe.

I didn't like how this one rhymed. Most of the BB books are just prose, and I think that works better. There were several parts where the rhymes were awkward--either the phrasing or the rhythm or both was off. I think it would have been better just as prose.

The Berenstain Bears is a huge series. In this one the Bears take a vacation to the beach. Before they begin their vacation, Papa Bear wants to teach the little bears about the dangers at the beach. The little bears learn faster than Papa Bear. This story is in rhyme which makes it easy to read over and over again.

My children loved the Berenstain Bears books and now their children are enjoying them.

This is not my favorite B-bears book. It's kind of a Dad-bashing book because the silly Dad keeps violating all the rules he gives the kids for safety at the seashore. Oh sure, the kids and Mom get a good laugh, but poor old Dad-Bear ends up with more than one bump on his noggin. This book made me afraid to go on vacation with my kids.

Really nice illustrations abound in this Berenstein Bears' adventure. The story is written in poetic fashion. It is easy and fun to read--nice flow and beat. The rhyme scheme is variable. Overall very enjoyable beach vacation for the Berensteins, the reader and those little listeners. Wonderful as a silent read as well.

I've read a lot of Berenstain Bear books in my life, especially recently to my 2 year old. This was held his attention way better than most of the "regular" books. He loved pointing out the water, birds, boats, etc. and I think the rhyming helped him pay attention better. For a toddler, this was a great book.

Why does the mother always have to stay behind? Why does she always have to wear a floor-length gown, even when she's swimming? It's too little, too late when she catches the biggest fish. This book depressed me.

This is ok and a kind of useful introduction to the dangers at the beach. However it's a bit weird as Papa Bear is trying to tell little Bear the rules of the beach and then basically demonstrates what not to do and how it can go wrong. Not my favourite, in fact I'm rather going off this series.

I love the Berenstain Bear books, but I dislike the ones that try to force rhyme. To me they lose the beautiful simplicity and care for details that are so present in most of the books.

Days at the shore pass quickly, and the Berenstain Bears must head home.

I absolutely adored these books growing up, and I always got sucked into the bear family’s adventures. Now, there’s a new baby sister, but the fun continues, and I love how they have the similar plot structure and rhyming words (literally- their books were what introduced me to rhymes growing up). These are classics for generations!

I grew up with the Berenstain Bears and am now regularly reading them to my own kids. I wasn't overly fond of this one, the rhyming scheme felt too forced too often. This one will definitely find it's way to the bottom of our book pile but is still worth reading a few times.
