"How will I be so kind ?" Nico must search his heart to find ways to be so kind while taking care of an adorable dog named Lola. Tender messages and captivating photographs are woven together in this heartwarming tale that reminds each of us we can be just a little bit kinder in everything we do. A book for every child to read, share, and remember!
What could be better than a book that promotes kindness and gives great ideas on the bottom of each page?! The pictures are beautiful and realistic! Great book for any child!
A sweet book about kindness. I read this book with my kids (7 and 2) and they really enjoyed the story- especially the pictures. We are a dog loving family so the kids connected with the kindness between the Nico and Lola to what they like to do with our dog Murphy.
Technology Connection: Great book for when we talk about characteristics of a good friend throughout the school year. This book is geared toward younger kids but I could see incorporating it into my second grade classroom using the premise of the book and taking the "Being kind is..." saying and having the kids develop a powerpoint using their own pictures of what each of the discriptions of what being kind is all about.
This book is, in short, adorable. It tells the story of a friendship between a little boy and a Pug. They go on multiple small adventures, including meeting the neighbor children and going to the park. Lola has been entrusted to the care of Nico while her owner is away for a short while, and Nico is overjoyed at the prospect of looking after this sweet dog.
Not only is this a wonderful story, the writing is crisp and clean while still offering vivid description and wonderfully accompanying the photographs. The photographs themselves are very nicely done, with vivid colors and a perfect capturing of Nico and Lola’s friendship.
I took this book out of the library for my two year old son. The photos of Nico and Lola are incrdeible and remind me of my son. I can just see my son in this story!
The story is nice and meaningful, full of value-lessons on kindness and respectful relationships. Very nice but the heart of the book, in my humble opinion, is the photography.
you can use the text in red to shorten the story to read it to a younger audience, which is great. it also has photographs, which is something you usually don't see in a picture book. they are larger enough to make the book easy to use with preschoolers.
