SOME WOMEN WOULD DO ALMOST ANYTHING FOR WEALTH...

The last person widow Vanessa Thorpe expected on her doorstep was Tristan Thorpe -- her deceased husband's estranged son. Tristan stood between her and the inheritance she desperately needed. Despite the attraction simmering between them, she could not let him win.

As far as Tristan was concerned, Vanessa was a trophy wife -- young, stunning and cunning -- who married his father for money. He was determined to reveal every dirty little secret she had. That is, until a rage-filled argument suddenly turned into a soul-burning kiss....

Bestselling and award-winning author Bronwyn Jameson grew up on an Australian farm where she developed a lifelong love of animals and the written word. Happily she was able to marry the two working as a rural journalist before a magazine article introduced her to Romance Writers of Australia and the possibility of a new career writing the books she loved to read.

After five years, a handful of contest wins and an equal number of rejections from Harlequin Mills & Boon, Bronwyn received the phone call all aspiring novelists dream of: Leslie Wainger at Silhouette Books wanted to buy the manuscript she'd judged in the Romance Writers of New Zealand Clendon Award.

Silhouette Desire published In Bed With The Boss's Daughter in July 2001. Since then Bronwyn has continued to write take-to-bed romance for Desire, winning contests such as The Aspen Gold, The Write Touch Readers' Award and the Anne Bonney Readers' Choice. In 2006 she was a triple RITA finalist with her Princes of the Outback trilogy and a nominee for the Romantic Times Series Storyteller of the Year.

As well as strong Australian heroes and spirited heroines, her stories feature all kinds of animals including an energetic Border Collie named Mac, a jet black racehorse named Stella, an attack cat named Gizmo, a talking pony nicknamed Mini Ed, a bitzer named Digger, a Russian Blue named Tolstoy…well, you get the picture.

She still loves animals and the written word. Her home is still a farm in the Australian heartland, which she shares with her husband and three sons, a thousand sheep, half a dozen horses, three dogs, an echidna and a wallaby.

My favorite of the series so far. Vanessa Thorpe is a widow, a former trophy-wife who is not the gold digger and social climber that her husband's son, Tristan seems to think she is. He'll do whatever it takes to get the inheritance he is due, to set things right. Tristan starts out as a bit of an ass. He rushes to a snap judgement about Vanessa and pretty much treats her like crap, but he redeems himself very quickly. It was nice to see him constantly re-evaluating his opinion of her, not because of the attraction between them but because of her personality and other obvious signs. He didn't continue to live in denial, as so many heroes do. Vanessa was just okay for me. They had a good relationship, but I didn't feel a lot of chemistry and UST between them. There was definitely an attraction, but it was subtle and there wasn't a lot of sexual tension so much as there was personality tension. While this was very well written and plotted out nicely, I do kind of wish the story had ended with a more definitive happy ending. This was still happy, but was a lot more hopeful and didn't firmly establish the heroine's feelings.
